whOOPS, I have installed car electronics and I have seen occasion where a loose mechanical connection can cause a problem. I typically solder wires to a factory wiring harness adapter when installing stereos as an example. I use "liquid electrical tape" over the solder joint and then shrink wrap over each individual joint. When you wrote that the clarity varies it sounded to me like a loose connection.

I know not everyone has a soldering iron. I bought one from Radio Shack years ago that works with butane; refilled like a cigarette lighter. The flame merely heats the end and you solder with a hot metal tip like an electrical soldering iron. It doesn't require an electrical connection and it was under $20. A soldered connection has less resistance than a mechanically clinched joint. I still use the factory wiring harness adapter which is also a mechanical connection but I do this for ease of removal.

It could be something else but I would eliminate the possibility. I thought you had a great idea and it would be nice to eliminate the occasional signal interruption.

Does the aux-in from outmotoring work on the 07 MCS? I'm assuming so but does anyone know for sure?

Is your 2007 a convertible? If it is then yes it will.

If it is a tin top R56 then there already is an aux adapter in the car.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm an idiot. I found the aux-in. It help when you read the Manual that comes with the car. Now I can start looking a MSFW bluetooth kit. I'll keep searching on that one.

The only dumb question is the one not asked. Guess you have a tin top. Sorry I can't help with the bluetooth.

Motor on....

Easy, Simple Auxiliary Audio Installation

I installed my auxiliary audio today and it was very easy. I bought the OEM cable and installed it in my 2005 S convertible. I did not want the connection in my glove compartment box, and that actually made it easier.

I pulled down the hinged panel below the steering wheel, and found that I could feel the correct plug socket on the back of the radio by reaching around. It is in the lower corner of the radio back on the driver's side. The plug snap catch faces up. I then found there is a little removable access panel below the switch bank, in the console/cupholder zone. You can fish a solid wire from here up to the radio, just like wiring an old house. I fished my audio cable to here, and this is where I prefer to place my audio player.

No need to remove the radio or the trim around the gear shifter! And this whole sequence can be completed without tools! No holes drilled, no cutting or modification. If it does not please you, can be reversed.

"The OEM Cable"

Quick books: What is "The OEM cable"?? I know you can get a Mini kit for adding the iPod but I didn't know you could buy just a cable? What end does it have on it (end that plugs into the stereo)? Where did you buy the cable and do you have a PN if it was OEM?

I think the ipod may be more than just an aux in cable. The aux in will work for any device.

This is just a sound input. The ipod may be more inclusive of other controls. I don't know since I don't use or support any DRM music formats. All my digital music is free of artificial locks.
