2009 MCS Sirius Activation

Hello,

I just purchased a used 2009 MCS with only 1800 miles on from the dealership and I'm trying to activate the sirius that came with the HIFI radio. Sirius customer service said to hold the SAT button for three seconds and the ESN number will pop up. Problem is, when I hit SAT from the mode button, it just keeps saying "acquiring."

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

The SIRIUS Sat radio in my car stopped working a few weeks ago. All it would say is "acquiring". I brought it into the dealer and they replaced the whole antenna on the roof. It works now. That may be your problem as well. I would bring it in to the dealer to see if they can fix/repair it.

It should not say acquiring for more than a few seconds (when you have a clear view of the sky). That sounds like an antenna problem for sure (either not plugged into the receiver under the pass seat or defective stack as the previous poster had).

Thanks for your feeback...It looks like it will already be coming back in to the shop to check out the antenna or wiring.

My MINIs satellite antennae was replaced a couple of weeks ago for the same issue. It worked fine for two weeks - now it's doing the same thing again... "acquiring...". Hopefully the next antennae is a keeper.

Has anyone heard if this is a software issue? I was reading a similar thread on the BMW 1 series forum and the solution was actually a software update. Probably a different story with the MINIs.

I did get a solution, whereas, Mini of the Mainline outside Philadelphia pulled up the carpet and checked the wiring and then updated the software. It's been almost a month and it's working fine. I could also finally located ESN number.

Picked up my MINI today. I'm on my 3rd satellite radio antennae. Hopefully the 3rd one is a charm!

Oh, just great! Thanks for the info as the issues related here are the same as I am having with my new Countryman. Time to call the dealer and figure out just what is needed.
