Ok I am am idiot. I had some time on my hands today. So I thought " I will make my I phone work as an I pod from the snap in" So I sat in the car in the garage and started to play with the I phone and stereo controls. I played with the phone first, Selected I pod on the phone with stereo on. And the phone said I pod connected. So I then scrolled through the stereo menu and selected USB. That did not work,so I pulled out my I pod from the Y cable. No luck,the I pod Icon was then inactive. At this point i had only one last thing to try,(pull out the Y cable). and what do you know,it worked! The I pod icon was back. I selected I pod and it worked the same as when I had my I pod connected to the Y cable.
I also check that the phone still worked as a phone ( it did ). So my phone now charges from the snap in and now plays music!! The dealer could not even figure this out. all is good in Mini land.

All- I have a 2010 Clubman S with the Comfort Bluetooth USB/IPod Adaptor ($&50.00 option, not $500.00).
I ordered the 84.21-2 158 683-01 snap in adapter for my Iphone 3G with 3.1.2 firmware upgrade, phone works; but no music. I have tried the suggestions on here to no avail. My dealer called me this am and told me that some times the phone works and if it doesnt there is a TSB that has them access the car's computer and ennable something in order to allow for Ipod functions to work from the Iphone mounted in the armrest as described above.

I am scheduled for an appt tomorrow am and will post my findings shortly thereafter.

Hi all- never did the software update, iPhone 4 now, so now totally in the woods awaiting a new snap in

 

I have a 2011 with 6nf and visual boost and am having the same problem I am going to track someone down at the dealership and see if they know about the update.
