Blocking outside sounds

Firstly, I'm not looking for just a vibration dampener. I'm looking for a way to really block out the road noise and outside sound interference. I don't want to go to extremes, but I'm willing to spend 250-300 if it comes down to it(less is obviously better). I've been checking out the second skin and hushmat, dynamat and so on with their products that are designed to block sound once you have the actual vibration issue fixed.

Has anyone worked with anything that they think will fit the bill? I've toyed with the idea of using the spectrum sludge as an undercoating and in the tire wells, followed by a butyl product and a foam/vinyl product under the carpets.

I figure:
Sludge - $60
Butyl dampener (30-40ft) - $150ish
Foam/vinyl dampener 20sq.ft - $80

opinions/thoughts/suggestions?

When I do this, I'm gonna start small with the easily accessible areas like the hatch and rear area. I will use Second Skin products like dampifier and luxury liner. Since you've been to the Second Skin site, you know about their noise attenuation products like Luxury Liner? They have a good forum where you can get your questions answered.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...oad-noise.html is a great resource for R50-R53 sound deadening.

Let us know how it goes.

I'll second the....erm..... Second Skin products. The Damplifier and Lux Liner has helped with road noise noticeably, and helped the acoustics of my system.

It's good stuff

I'm partial to Dynamat Extreme.

I have used the Fat Mat or whatever it is called and it just isn't the same.
