Aftermarket sat radio install

I ordered my Clubman without the integrated Sirius receiver, because I already have a portable XM receiver (Samsung Helix) that I use in both my cars (and my office, and my garage). Now that I've had the car for a few weeks I'm trying to get my head around what my options are for wiring it in.

I've come to realize that I probably should have just bit the bullet and had MINI put the integrated receiver in - I am pretty obsessed about having a tidy install without cables running all over the place, and that would have been as tidy as is possible. I've sent an email to my MA asking what they'd charge me to retrofit one in.

I'd like to understand what my options are outside that, though, as I fear the price will be steep. I have a 2009 Clubman S with the iPod/BT integration and no CD changer. From these forums I've figured out where to get a dash mount, 12V switched power, and how to use the car's built-in satellite antenna, but I still have one question about the audio.

What device (if any) exists that will allow me to wire the audio out of the XM cradle into the stock radio without using the "Aux In" audio jack below the center switch bank? Will these devices play nice with my stock radio and my other sources (iPod, USB stick)? I have found OEM CD changer interfaces for the Gen1 MINIs but it's not clear to me whether these boxes will work with my car radio.

I appreciate any information anybody can share, and if I end up installing my Helix in the Clubman I'll post lots of pictures. Thanks,

Brad

bradw, I just got a Mini Cooper S but with stock stereo which I plan on upgrading the speakers and adding XM or Sirius to next week.

Do all Mini's already have the built in Sirius antenna? If so that would be great to make my install cleaner.

Mdrums,

My understanding is that all newer cars have the sat antenna built in. The interface is under the passenger seat - information about the cable and the install can be found in this thread:

Good luck,

Brad
