Steering wheel controls

I'd like to add an OEM ipod connection to my stock in-dash unit but also the controls to the three spoke steering wheel. Would I have to replace the enter wheel or just acquire the control pads? Also is the steering column modulated for this or do I have to pre-wire it?

Thanks.

There is a retrofit kit to convert your steering wheel to multi-function. Part number 65 71 0 395 006...includes the switches and a harness.

EDIT:You need coding after the install, so the car "sees" the mod.

Thanks for the info, does the coding need to be done at the dealer or is this something I can do myself?
