Coat hanger Garmin mount

Base on this idea http://www.miniacal.com/garmin_mount/ I came up with this mount for my garmin.

I got a second mount from target for $12 to play with. I cut 2 groves in the mount to allow the wire to be placed under the rubber of the mount. The rubber should help protect the dash and I bent the wire so that it produces some down force on the rubber to keep the gps in place. Just place the wire then close the mount latch and it hold every thing togather.

Interesting idea, but doesn't it bounce over bumps?

The wire is pushing the mount down into the dash so it does not bounce. Now I have only done a short test drive in my wifes car(which has the factory nav) as my car is still waiting to get through the VPC so I dont know if after a long drive it will start to work its way out a little. I guess I could just bend the wire more to create more force but I guess there would be a danger of cracking the vent if it to tight.

Innovative, but I wouldn't harm the aesthetic appeal of my MINI with that.

Plastic dip the coat hanger and I bet it would look a little more "professional" and less like a bent coat hanger!
