Rip-off alert!

Just an FYI to any potential audio buyers. Hope this is appropriate to post here.

I ordered a pair of Infinity 9623i's from Dealer Cost Audio on 3/3. They had them for $45 cheaper than Crutchfield or Amazon. At first, everything seemed normal, I got a shipping notice the next night, saying that they shipped on 3/4, complete with a tracking number. The charges showed up on my credit card on 3/5. On 3/6, UPS still only showed "Billing Info Recieved", but no pickup. I called and the customer service rep explained that there was a "warehouse" problem and that the item would ship over the weekend. On Monday (3/9) - no change in status on the UPS site. I emailed them from work several times, and all I would recieve is some cryptic message about a warehouse transfer, and nothing about when I could expoect the product. Tuesday (3/10), I called them and they said that there was an inventory problem, and that the product would ship that evening. Weds (3/11), no change in status from UPS. I call again, waiting almost an hour on hold, and the custumer service rep (Robert) informed me that the product had in fact shipped out the previuos night, and that the UPS site would indicate this shortly. Today (3/12), no status change from UPS. I call this morning, and now there is a message that says "Due to unusally high traffic, they cannot take calls, and email them". They never answered any emails. I am calling the credit card company to have the charges reversed.

I am convinced they never had the product, that they do the shipping notice to be able to charge for the item, and that they tell you whatever they can to keep you from cancelling the order.

Anyone else had issues with these guys?

I just checked them out. Apparently the "sell" Memphis Car Audio, which isn't available online... period. That alone sounds fishy.

UPDATE

Amazingly, after the credit card company was notified, I received a cancellation notice. This was especially amazing since they claimed it had already shipped and they can't retrieve them.

If the price looks to good to be true - it probably is!

It just gets better - check this out!
Joel,
We cannot catch this. Check tracking by midnight, you will see it on it’s way to you. Tommorow, it is a fight to get it back, as we have already refunded your credit card so the refund can beat your CC dispute.

XXXXXXX $87.45 Refund Approved Cancelled 3/12/09 5:07 PM 1 This transaction has been approved.

All I can say, is you are a “unique” customer.

Dude I hope my experience was an anomaly, but I really doubt it. I'd call them first thing in the morning. Do you have a tracking number? Does it show shipped? if not feel them out but if things seem fishy - cancel while you can.

It says the same thing yours did. Billing information has been sent to UPS. Check site later for updated shipment status or contact shipper for more details.

I am already checking out onlinecarstereo.com as we speak.

Ordered canceled. When I said "yeah and my friend Joel had a problem with your company also" he got really pissed at me. I don't know what you did! He said the only thing holding me up was the USS8 (Bass600) but now I'm going to order the Bass1200 anyway so maybe it was a good thing!

Yeah I would imagine he's not too happy with me right now.
