Front speakers replaced - few months later
Hey guys
So I replaced my front speakers with 2ohm 5022i infinity speakers a few months ago. I got an exhaust installed a week ago, but nothing else really recently. I noticed today at first when i turn up my volume- the right speaker sounds blown. I think, dam its blown, time to change it-
then, the left one does the same thing, except its not like a normal "blown" sound.. its more of a (when someone is rubbing their hand over a mic type distortion poping sound??? i duno how to describe it, but its like sharp little pops that sound like if you drop a mic on the ground i guess)
and it happens when you turn it up and bass hits in a song (though not that theres really much bass that comes out), and sometimes you can turn it much higher before it happens, sometimes not, but it will be in the upper region of the sound (not even that loud, still listenable)
next thing i noticed is the front speaker is cutting in and out- which seems like a connection problem, but it'd be odd that its happening to both speakers in the front
(rears are fine and stock)
only thing is with my exhaust im trying to fix the droning prob right now, so on highways i find myself turning up the speakers a bit more- but i doubt it was enough to blow them.
is it possibly the fust in the back of the radio? (i havent taken it apart and i cant find the thread on how to, but if i dont need to i'd like to avoid it)
any thoughts would greatly be appreciated.
what a bad day. after i found this out, i was turning to go up a hill to go home, and a lady infront of me stops, stalls, and rolls back into me. ughhhh. cracked bumper.
thanks again guys!

they are secure.. and if not, it'd be odd for both to go out at the same time, and what im experiencing is 'clipping' im pretty sure.. which is still odd to me as they are 2ohm speakers, but the two speakers per door stock are 4 ohms each hooked up in parallel (i believe).. making it a 2 ohm circuit as well..?
Do you have the HIFI upgrade or standard audio? I put Infinity Kappa 60.7cs 6-1/2" component speakers in my 2007 MCS about a year ago, and no problems with them. The woofer went in the door, and the tweeter in the A pillar.
