Tweeters + stereo imaging greatly improved.
Good evening all,
Please note that after much research in this great forum, I came to the conclusion that if I added two tweeters with an individual amp I could play a bit with the phase configurations and obtain surround sound like imaging on anything I play through the Boost radio.
A while back I came across this educating information in the web site "How Stuff Works". Please reference the link below.
http://electronics.howstuffworks.com...und-sound7.htm
I basically did a connection similar to the "poor man's surround sound setup" shown in the above link.
I am using a Kenwood KAC 729S amp to power the tweeters alone with the mentioned configuration. The tweeters are component tweeters I had from a previous vehicle. The tweeters are mounted on the dasboard right next to the "A" pillars but are facing the windshield. The purpose of this is so that the sound hits first the windshield and then bounces off towards me. With this I achieve a few milisecond sound travel delay which in turn allows for an improved sorround sound effect.
I have to say that the improvement in sound is jaw dropping. I still have the stock speakers and yes, I know that when I replace them I will most likely improve the quality of the audio as well, but that is the next project, I just have to save a few bucks to get it done sinceas you know, good quality speakers are not cheap, but well worth their price.
For bass, I added a pioneer bandpass inclosure with an 8" sub. I am usin a coustic amp to drive it and it does a superb job. I am now able to hear the superb low bass notes from jazz music.
Anyways, I just wanted to share the imaging improvement done by playing a bit with the phase of the tweeters.
I hope this helps in any way.
I wish you all an excellent week!!!!
