JL Stealthbox

Yesterday I ordered my MCS with the Premium sound. I have a JL Stealthbox in my C6 Vette and love the way it sounds. Ill get the Mini in late Nov and Ill see if the system is good enough. If not I will add a good sub and call it a day. JL's website lists a Stealthbox for older Mini's but not the R56 ones. Ive read before that they dont fit well in newer Minis. Does anyone know if they upgraded the box to fit the R56 cars? And any reviews or comments are welcome. Thanks.

Since you got the HIFI stereo, be aware that there's a well-documented problem with the HIFI in that the rear speakers do *not* receive a full-range signal. There's a hefty low-end roll-off (about 18 dB per octave) starting at around 100 Hz. This means that if you install a subwoofer and tap off of the rear speaker wires for the sub signal, you'll hardly get any bass at all from the subwoofer.

You can either tap off of the front speakers for your subwoofer input, or there's a connector near the driver's door that you can modify to switch the front and rear speaker outputs from the head unit so that the rear speakers get a full-range signal and the front speakers get the rolled-off signal. (This makes more sense anyway, since the larger speakers in the back are better-suited for bass than the front speakers.)

I'll try to find one of the threads with all the details and post a link here.

You're welcome, but I screwed up my post. The problem is with the *non*-HIFI stereo, not the HIFI system, so this shouldn't be an issue for you.

Here's a link.
