6x9 Drop Ins
Hey guys,
I'm finally redoing the repair work the body shop was too incompetent to do, so I'm upgrading while I'm at it. I'm replacing the foam behind the rear panels with Damplifier Pro (the foam was damaged anyways), and now I'm looking at upgrading the rear speakers while I'm in there. I'm definitely not an audiophile...just looking at a direct drop in speaker, a step up from what is stock. With the knowledge that the stock speakers are 6x9 w/ 4 ohm impedance (correct me if I am wrong), which would be the best from this list...or should I look at other sources (Crutchfield was recommended to me).

Again, not an audiophile by any means...just upgrading while I'm in there. Not looking for something requiring extra work/parts and a pair of speakers in the $100-200 range would be perfect.
Thanks Again
- Matt

The stock deck does not put out much power, so pick a lighter speaker that won't take a lot of power. I'd suggest the infinities for sound quality, but you'd need an amp to make them sound thier best. I'm soon to get an amp and more Kappas for the rear to round out the ones I have in front.

The Kappas are rated to work with any stock deck. I have had no problems thus far, and with an amp, they will meet and exceed my requirements. I'm not building a competition system here, just one that will provide clarity over stock.
The stock system had too much bass for me, you said it cuts low frequencies?

I would do the Infinity setup, but I have worries about them being rated at 2-ohm, with the stock HU working with the stock speakers in the 5-ohm range. Additionally, I know the stock deck chops the lower frequencies, and I wouldn't want a set of speakers that would amplify that effect; I have heard that the Infinity's have a built in crossover/filter of sorts that impairs their low-end functionality.
