Stock Amp Connector Color Codes

Hey everyone! I'm trying to get my system together in my R56 but I need some info. For those that are curious, it's going to be 2 x Focal 165 A1 sets and a pair of Focal 690 CA1's in the back. They're all going to an American Bass 4 channel amp and the line conversion is being done by a 3sixty.1.

I'm trying to see whether anyone has info on the wiring harness for the stock amplifier. I'm trying to hook into it so I don't have to mess around behind the HU. The idea is to tap in to the audio signal through that harness, disconnect the stock speakers from their original wires and run new speaker wire from the amp.

Also, anyone know where the best place to connect my remote line to is?

Thanks!

P.S. The amp is going to be mounted in the boot.

Hey there--

Looks like our best bet may be the X9331 connector, which is located just ahead of the driver's door; if I'm reading the wiring diagrams correctly, it has all the speaker signals.

The action is in the "Frequency Response" thread -- read through there for pictures and updates.

As for the remote line, the aux power connector in the boot is switched, so you can use that for the remote line. Looks like you can configure the 3sixty.1 to automagically sense using the high-level inputs, and use the remote connector as an output for your amp -- so you could power the 3sixty.1 from the boot power connector, and use its remote connector to turn the amp on and off. (I'm planning on using a JL Clean Sweep, and doing about the same thing.)

If you have the HiFi system then the current amp is in the boot already and has a connector that comes from the radio and is the easiest place to do your splicing.

If you do not have the HiFi system then the best place to find the wireing you need is in the drivers foot well. Remove the panel just in front of the drivers door and there is a connector in there that has the radio on one side and the speaker wiring on the other.

This thread has more info on the non HiFi stem up and where to find the connectors.

Just posted similar info on another thread -- that's the X9331 connector, and it has the signals you need!
