Stereo Automatically Turns Off

I want to wash my car.
I turn on the (Hi-Fi) radio to listen to the ball game.
15 or so minutes later, the stereo automatically turns itself off.
I jump back in, turn on the radio again....and....same thing AGAIN 15 minutes later!

What gives?

I've tried leaving the key in, leaving the doors open, and turning on auxillary power, leaving the key out, closing the doors but leaving the windows open, etc.....but all to no avail.

Does anyone know how to keep the radio on until the user decides to turn it off? I checked the radio and standard manual, and no mention is made of this "feature". I imagine that MINI installed it to save battery juice in case the radio is left on inadvertently.

BTW, I have the Convenience package with keyless access......

Yes its made to turn off to save the battery.
I had the same issue. I solved it by using a bigger sponge.

Is "use a bigger sponge" an option?
Yeah....to soak it with water and whip it at the head unit.....

BTW, your signature artwork is HILARIOUS! Well done!

Yep, that should work. I sat through a double feature at the drive in.

Won't the ignition actually be sending spark to the plugs when turning on the ignition? Should you sit there for any length of time that way?

Unlock the doors the normal way.
(I don't have comfort access)

Open the passenger door.
Do not open the driver door.

Insert key fob.

Radio should stay on a long time.
