Auxiliary Audio Input...

Where should it be installed in the car? Factory location would be where? Plus what kind of cord do I need to hook the Sirius unit I have to the auxiliary input?

It wasn't a factory option, but a dealer option. The jack is sited in the side of the glovebox. The jack is a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini jack, so it needs one of those on one end, and whatever the Sirius has on the other.

The glovebox is the standard location where a dealer will install the jack, but you can install it anywhere. Many of us install it in the cubby at the bottom of the center console.

The glovebox seems a weird place to put it, what good would it do there? I do like the cubby idea, the flip down plastic plate might be a good spot to put it.

Advantages of the glovebox location:
1) an mp3 player on shuffle is outta sight there.
2) it's quite easy to route an audio cable from that location, down the inside of the downtube or under the dash panels, to wherever you might have you accessory mounted. I have a very clean wiring setup for my GPS using this approach.

Which the underside of the cubbie door is a convenient location, it's also going to leave an exposed plug and some exposed wiring, if you're going for a "clean" look.

But put it anywhere you want.
Just answering the "what good would it do there?" question...

Not on 1st gen MINIs. Some of the late 2006 cars (like mine) and all later cabrios (I think) came from the factory with the glovebox aux input standard...

I see that you have (or ordered) an R56. Yes, you have an aux port under the toggle switches. You posted your question in the 1st gen forum.

Well I got the Auxillary Input Installed, then I figured out that I couldnt find a clean way to install the Sirius radio. I just didnt like anything I could think up, but the Aux Input does make a nice way to hookup an MP3 player. I guess my only option for Sirius is to pay for the factory option, which I think is WAY over priced.
