Do we get iTunes tagging?

Hi,

My new Pepper White Clubman is due for a production week soon. But while I wait, I have a question. I've ordered everything electronic, except for Sirius and the Park Distance Control.

What I wonder, is does the HD Radio (which I am getting) and/or the Sirius radio (which my MA says he can get in the order if I want) have the ability to tag songs for iTunes?

You may already know, but this is when I hear a song on the radio (whichever radio) and push a button that somehow allows me to download the song on iTunes the next time I sync.

I've not seen how this works in other cars, but I do hear the "iTunes Tagging" feature talked about in a number of vehicles.

If our radios don't support this now, would you thing that it would only be a software fix to get it to work, or would more or different hardware be required?

Thanks

Tagging...maybe later!

OK,

Thanks. After reading around, it's a function of the HD radio that supports tagging. If the feature is supported, a new button on the radio tells the iPod to record data about the current sound, like time, channel, track, artist, etc.

Then when you sync the iPod, you get a new folder of tagged content you can get from iTunes.

The button part's not the problem, God knows there's enough ways to initiate a sofware feature on the Minis. So, it's not impossible that a firmware patch will add it in the future.

On the other hand, maybe that's why the HD radio is "only" $500. So we can get charged another $500 to upgrade the thing in a few months!

Thanks Again!

That sounds interesting. I hadn't heard about it before. Although if I was carrying an ipod around I don't know why I would ever turn on radio.

I'm sure it's something that could be done, maybe in a new model, but I doubt Mini will ever change that kind of functionality in a prior car. We've been waiting over a year to fix the worthless POI system in the factory Nav and so far Mini shows no sign of fixing it in either the current models or through a software update for older models.

I wouldn't hold your breathe.
