Has anyone successfully replaced HK amp with aftermarket?

Sorry if this question is already answered- I have searched and not seen any success stories... My HK amp died (seems to be a common occurrence) and I am wondering if anyone has successfully replaced one with an aftermarket amp (and crossovers/filters) using the existing harness, speakers and HU. I'm waiting to find one on e-bay, etc, but thinking of this as my next option.

Thanks for any and all wisdom!

Damn. No answer yet.... I am wondering teh same thing. I want to replace my amp, speakers, and Head unit. It would be nice to know if I can just pop and swap.
My HK system works fine. Ill sell it cheap once it's replaced If you dont mind waiting a few more weeks.

Unfortunately, it's a bit more involved than inserting an aftermarket amp. If you want exactly the same functionality as before, your best bet is to replace the HK amp. However, you can get better overall performance by going aftermarket. It's just a question of what result you are after. If you were satisfied with the performance before the amp died, I would recommend just replacing it. I am sure there are plenty of folks (myself included) who have slightly-used HK amps to sell (see previous post).

Good luck.

Amps available?

If you have an amp available, I'd probably be interested in picking it up- feel free to pm or e-mail me. Thanks!

WTB - HK Amp for 2004 MINI Cooper S

I would like to replace my HK amp (I just found out from service tech that the amp has failed).
I have a 2004 MINI Cooper S with the Harman Kardon system.
The head unit is fine, and I would be willing to replace my faulty amp with a used amp purchased from someone here on NAM.
Do you have an HK amp for sale, and for how much would you be willing to sell it?

Thanks,

-- MM

ehhh Not yet. I spent all my money on the clutch I had to replace. Eventually, when I have the money to redo the speakers and get a new AMP, I'll have the stock one available
