2008 MINI / Bluetooth / enV Orange?

Hi, this is my first post. I found the site looking for a solution to my bluetooth phone problem.

My Cooper S arrived in January '08. I purchased the Bluetooth phone kit and I am not very happy with it right now. I have the LG enV orange. This phone is not on the "Official" list, but it is posted on the "Good" list in the Compatibility thread on this forum. This tells me that my phone works for somebody.

1. Is there a snap in cradle that fits my phone? Is there a link to where I can buy it?

2. Nobody can hear me when I speak. I have to hold my phone up like I'm talking into a CB radio .... what's the point of having bluetooth? Even holding my phone up doesn't make me sound nice and clear. My friends can't wait to get off the phone with me. My mom won't even talk to me in the car. How can I fix this? If I have a cradle will it work better? Where is the "microphone" located in my car?

I love my phone and I don't want any of the phones on the Verizon "official" compatibility list. I don't even think they make those phones anymore. I would switch to the pretty red blackberry that is out now, but it's not on the "official" list either.

Please help, I am soooo sad with my decision to buy the bluetooth option.

Sorr to be the bearer of bad news, but you might have found out the hard way that the only way to get the full compatibility benefits is to get a listed as compatible phone - you're taking a chance if you go with a different phone. The EnV has been out for a while and has gone through several software updates - perhaps the older firmware was better for compatibility and that's the experience the poster in that thread had? Or maybe their qualifications for a "good" rating were simply that it connected and the call quality being poor was what kept it from getting a better rating from the poster than "good." Next time, don't base your decision off of one person's experience.

As your phone isn't one of the officially compatible ones, there is definitely not a snap in cradle available, and there most likely won't be one (unless of course it becomes compatible in a future software update - don't hold your breath).

To answer your other question, your microphone is located up with the map lights/switches.

Bummer. Thanks for replying. I had the phone long before I had the car, I was only hoping that maybe it would work. So I didn't "buy the phone based on someone else's experience". I can't imagine why Mini Cooper doesn't select some current phones to add to their compatibility list. The ones listed for Verizon are the outdated "freebies", no Qwerty keyboards.

One thing you might want to look into is www.wireless4bmw.com

It's just like www.wireless4mini.com but they list more phones, including some of the newer "iPhone Competitors." Since a lot of Mini electronics are similar to BMW counterparts you might want to see if you have any friends with the phones listed on 4bmw, try pairing them to you car and making calls.
