6" sub install

Just installed some Elemental Design 7Kv.2 subs in the 6x9 holes. Very nice bass for the price and no sub box taking up valuable space.
Some pics.

Nice Job, Look a bit like mine, but I have a low profile 10" sub next to the amp.

I've been trying to decide if I will go with the eD subs or the components in the rear. What swayed you in this direction?

I wanted some nice bass but I didn't want a sub box in the rear. I had some 6x9's back there but they just couldn't get loud enough in the lower freq's to overcome the "environmental" noise in the mini when motoring. The old PPI amp is 40x4 @ 4ohms. The subs are dual 2 ohm version. Each coil goes to a channel on the amp. The little sony amp powers the 6 3/4 components up front.

Thanx.
I thought about putting a sub there but I didn't want to lose any cargo floor space

Doesn't that effect the overall sound from the speakers since there are only two speakers now? I had one speaker go out and it sounded terrible. How is the overall quality now?

Do you mean only front speakers instead of fronts and rears?
If so. No the sound still sounds good. Just have to make sure you have decent speakers up front. The OEM did sound like crap with no rears.

I'm thinking eD components in the front and either their 6" subs or components in the back with a small amp driving it all.

I have the same space you have, but my cover panel is split on the left side so I can access the Jack without pulling out the whole panel or Sub. Like you the only thing you see is a black cover plate.

I like this set-up, and with the seats down I have a full flat area.
The sub is 10". To the right is a 1K watt amp in an open space under the sub box panel, to the left is access to the Jack and whatever.
I've had this set-up for nearly two years. I like that it's out of sight out of mind to most onlookers.
I will match the color of the interior at some piont.
To have this set-up you'll need a "Shallow-Mount" sub so that there's air-space under the woofer and room for the box.
Fits snug so there's no movement what-so-ever, but easily removed to access the battery compartment.
Yes, with less than a 3" depth it really thumps, I have the amp dialed down to a level I can take and not disturb people in their homes.

The link reads ".../usafDan/...," are you Air Force/Armed Forces?

Thanks!
Retired USAF 07 (but that's another thread)
I was thinking of installing a rear seat delete kit and changing the sub cover to match.
