For those of you getting the iPhone 3g, be aware that the dock cable will not charge the iPhone and tries to put it into Airplane Mode which shuts off the antennae. Very disappointing but hopefully someone will come out with a solution.

I have my Nano hooked up to the AUX line and it works great. When I go for long road trips (Motoring), I put the Nano on "mix" and let it go. I place the Nano on the seat next to me or the center console and if I don't want to hear the song I forward - or reverse (if I want to hear it again). My wifes car has XM radio (Honda) and it has commercials and stuff....this is better all music, and lasts 10 hours!
Aux cable interface is cheap, and works well...just remember to turn off the Nano when you get out of the car..or the Nano might be "dead" when you return after work!

If I put my iPod in front of the ashtray and cup holder, is there any traction there or is it all hard plastic?

Its all hard plastic but mine does not move in there it is as if if was designed to just fit the iPod. The cable actually helps keep it in place by slightly wedging under the edge of the side wall. This is hard to explain and i don't have pictures or a camera today. But if you would like i can take some this evening.

I liked learning on this thread that the Ipod would fit nicely in the mesh pocket on the passanger side. That's where mine has taken up residence.

I have the same set-up as Schatzy and it works great. The black cable along with my black 30 gig iPod blends right in and the iPod stays put in that area. You have to look really hard to see it tucked away down there. Also, my USB/Aux iPod cable was included in the car. No extra charge for it as it is supposed to be part of the convenience package. I've read on this forum of folks that said their dealer wanted to charge them extra for the cable. It's pretty sad that almost all of the dealers are selling the cars at MSRP which guarantees them a profit on the car and then still try to squeeze more out of the customer by charging them for a cable that was probably in their car when it left the factory.

There are other threads that talk about iPod menu navigation speed, etc., so I won't belabor it other than restate the following:

- There is a configuration option to move the connector to the secret compartment. However, the connection in the secret compartment is intended for the multi-disc CD changer. So you'd be coming in through the CD-Multi changer connection on the head unit rather than the aux connection. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but I hear menu navigation is more limited and slower (may not show complete lists). Please refer to other threads for more details; that's all I remember.

- I have the Nav, and my iPod menus are a bit slower than the iPod itself, but not by much. For the convenience of not fumbling around I'm pretty happy with it. Everything seems to be displayed; I'm pretty happy with it.

- Great idea on putting the iPod in a black case. Mine is bright red; guess it's not a great idea in terms of theft.

There is another thread and i can not find it right now about how to move the USB and AUX jacks to the secret compartment. A little techy but not really that bad.

As for the dealer installed iPod connector in the secret compartment the dealer has to install an extra harness so i do not believe that it uses the CD changer input as it will also allow you to control the iPod from the dash.

The one issue I have with the Ipod connection is that I have so many albums that it can take forever to scroll throught the list by turning the center ****. Has anyone found a way to fast forward? The list always defaults to the letter "A" and you can't even scroll from "A" directly to "Z" and move backward through the alphabet. I have the convenience package set up with the cable in the center cubbie.
