Nav - not strictly required, but very, very desirable.

I totally forgot what you needed exactly when I took the pics tonight, I was lucky to remember to take these photos, sorry , I'm forgetful some times.

you can navigate : Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs, Genres(tbh, I can't remember if it has podcasts, composers and audiobooks, but if not , you could always make a playlist for a particular podcast as well as one for audiobooks)

HOpe this helps, sorry I took so long

yw.

podcasts and audiobooks(at least) can be found under the genre category

Yeah, I'm really impressed with the nav. I asked a ton of questions about it before adding it to my order and I'm very glad I went with it. It looks great too!

A friend asked me which way to go just before she ordered hers..... She took delivery last week and was QUITE happy with the Nav / iPod / Bluetooth display....

It's a bit misleading for Mini to call this "Navigation", since it also adds a big boost to entertainment and communications....

They'd probably sell many more packages if they pushed this as a more comprehensive upgrade.... My $0.02 anyhow...

I agree. Also, if you have the park distance control, it is also a part of that system.

They should call it "Personal Configuration System" are the like... my wife thought $2,000 was a bit much for navigation, but I informed her of all the useful features (at least I made them sound useful ) and she gave me another big thumbs up.

It gets delivered next Saturday... arghhh.

this probably sounds silly, but i just found the trip computer and it's really nice to see all the stats in real time, instead of the instant mpg reading you get on the tach. I drive the same route to and from work every day, so i dont really need the nav on all the time. Now, at least i can get useful information.

Navigation
--> Car Data
--> Trip Computer
--> Start

not that i needed another reason to enjoy the NAV, but it's really nice. NOT so nice watching the Consumption rating go down when i mash down the gas.

For long trips you just can't beat the functionality of the newer smarter portable NAV units.
Not me, I have a NUVI and have had extensive experience with BMW units. I agree completely with RickDM in an earlier post.

"I have both a Nuvi 660 and the Mini navigation system. For me there is no comparison; the Mini nav system is much more accurate, faster, and the directions are easier to follow. The only thing the Nuvi does better is find POI's, but frankly the Google maps function on my phone kicks both their butts, and it is what I now use then just input the address. I won't even go into the convenience of not having to hide the Nuvi every time. The $1500 difference is a of of money and you will have to decide if it is worth it to you, but i would have a hard time going back to the Nuvi."

The POI lookup on my NUVI is better though.

I have a Nuvi 660 and the Mini Nav also. I agree. The 660 works ok but the Mini is way faster at adjusting while you're driving.

Also people talk about the $1500 price different but don't take into account the dead-reckoning of the Mini Nav. You'll be up to nearly that price with a Garmin with dead-reckoning.

Congratulations. I think you will be very happy with it. Even though the expense was rather high, I am glad I bought it.

Let us know if they change it up and it comes with an Irish or British navigation voice. The bland could-be-from-anywhere voice is the only disappointment I've had.

I have to share one cool experience with the Mini nav system. I was flying home on friday afternoon and as I get in the car here at DFW airport at rush hour I decide to let it direct me home in case there is any traffic. It proceeds to tell me there is a traffic disruption and routes me through the north tollway in a way I never even knew existed. It turns out there was a Cowboy's exhibition game and traffic was gridlocked at the stadium where both routes i normally use cross. It scooted me home with very little traffic, and probably saved me from sitting in traffic for an hour. At that point it was worth whatever I paid for it

They should change the name to Technology package. People have no problem paying, BMW, MB, Infiniti, and Lexus twice as much when they call it that, hahaha

I have it and wouldn't go without a built-in nav system.

A very similar thing happened to me only I saved my 85 year old grandma , who was traveling in in my uncles van following me, from sitting in stand still traffic for at least a half hour in the mid day sun.

Well worth the money in my book.
