Fuse # For Aftermarket XM Radio?

The car is an '08 MINI.
I am trying to install my XM radio.
I first tried the cigarette lighter, but it only comes on when the ignition (plus stuff like fan, heated seats, etc) is ON.
I'd prefer to find Accessory power, like the radio.
I've tried a bunch of fuses and most are powered in the Off position.
Even the radio fuse, 21, I think, which does indeed cause the radio not to be able to be powered up, was live in the OFF position!
I'm guessing there's some kind of new fancy electrical design which is over my head.

Would anybody have any suggestions where to get Accessory power?

I don't know the answer. However as my XM radio is on the way, I would defiantly like to. The radio is scheduled to get here Wednesday and I would like to hook it up the same way with accessory power.

I used the power supply to the CD changer, and wire tapped into it to add a cig lighter for the XM radio. The plug is behind the cubby in the dash, so there is some disassembly required to get to it.

That power supply comes on a bit more than the standard radio, I assume so you can get CDs in and out of the changer without running the car. It comes on when you open the door and turns off about 10 minutes after the last door is shut, and it's on even after the doors shut if the radio is still on. You would probably get the same effect by just tapping into it's fuse with a fuse tap, the proper fuse is labeled in the fuse box. (Third one down in the second column from the left)

I tied in to fuse 10 which is like a lot of other possible taps.
It does seem to power up the Roady when the door is opened.
Power seems to stay on for an hour or so, but I'm not sure of the time.
I didn't realize you could turn on the radio with no key.
The Roady can be set to not turn on automatically if desired and turn off automatically after a set amount of time.
So, it should be fine.

#21 will work.
Also 32 and others.

If you open and close the driver door your XM
will turn off after 15 or 30 minutes (not sure sometimes
quick, sometimes not).

But if you open the passenger door and not the driver door
it will stay on for a long long time (not sure how long) with
the key in (like if you are washing it and dont want it to turn off)

But I have not yet found a fuse that turns off right when the
car turns off.

It turned out fine.
I put the XM unit in the cubby.
I used a piece of wood and velco as support.
It's pretty easy to read.
The RoadyXT display now scrolls and the color matches pretty well.
I got a 2' cable with 90 degree mini jack ends very cheap on ebay.
