Garmin Shmarmin..... I absolutely love my Navigon 7000, real time traffic, free, ease of use and accurate.

Don't worry - the 760 records tracklogs.

In fact, so does the *entire* 700-series, along with the 880, 850 and 5000.

What is it about TomTom...

...that I missed? Lack of features? Value? I'll be in the market soon, so I hope someone will notice this and respond. I have not owned any sort of "nav" unit before, so I'm a virgin in this area.

I ask because after looking at ADVERTISED "features" on-line, Tom Tom appeared to me to be a good value compared to Garmin. But with all the gushing over Garmin, now I am wondering why NO ONE on this thread mentioned Tom Tom?

What am I missing? Also, naybe because of being new to this, I have found the Garmin product line confusing. LOTS of models, and bells and whistles, but I just don't know what will be really useful and what is likely to be nothing more than flash that I am unlikely to use. I THINK that my needs are pretty simple.

Anyone know of an honest place in the LA-Orange County, CA area that will actually demo this stuff and explain the various features? Thanks.

Thanks.
