I'm gonna say yes, but I'm guessing! I was a 4/07 build and I have the wiring.

I want to hook up a Garmin 360 GPS under my dash and it has an "MCX connector". I will need to find a cable that will connect the two.

Anyone know where to find a cable that will connect the OEM Mini Cooper GPS cable to a Garmin 360 MCX connector???
Were you trying to hook up the optional traffic receiver?

My 08 Mini has a plastic cover over the DSC well under the passerger seat.

To access the Sirius cable:

I slid the passenger seat full back.

Removed the two screws holding the front edge of the plastic cover (easy to do with the seat back).

Pulled up the cover on the transmission side and popped it above the seat rail.

I used a small flashlight to prop the cover open and shine some light into the DSC well and the pink/purplish plastic satelite cable end was just sitting there in plain sight.

I used a hooked tool to reach in and grab it.

I ran the antenna extension cable under the seat rail and into the DSC well and plugged it into the car's connector. I then shoved the extension cable up under the center console trim leading it to the Sirius receiver.

I pushed the extra extension cable into the DSC well and screwed the plastic lid into place.

Very easy install--I did not have to remove the front seat rail bolts.

Rob

Agree with Rob

My 08 had the cable sitting on top of the computers underneath that plastic cover. The purple end was almost at the back of the compartment (it was hard to reach it). It was not taped down.

Feeding that extension cable (I ordered from the recommended eBayer) underneath the carpet to the center console was a nightmare! I have tiny hands and it took me two hours of squishing my hand down the side of the tunnel to get enough of the carpet up to get the other end fed through. But it was well worth.

Thank you everyone for providing the information in this thread, very, very cool!!

On my March 08 build MC the satelite cable was in plain sight once I slid the passenger seat full back and raised the plastic lid under the seat. I propped the lid open with a small flashlight and used a hooked tool to grab the wire with the pink/purpleish connector.

I was curious about the comments regarding the presence or absence of the plastic cover under the front passenger seat. Some have mentioned that earlier build R56s may not have it.

For the record, mine is a December 2006 build and it does have the plastic cover. At first I didn't think it had it, but realized the plastic cover is what I thought was a black metal plate.

Ditto. brainless install, no need for any anxiety at all

Times 3 for me, took a couple screws out of the black plastic cover, raised the seat to its highest position and took a piece of wire and made a hook on the end and hooked the cable and pulled it to the front.

Anyone know if the Sat antenna wire is still under the seat for the 2013 Cooper Hardtop?

Reviving this old thread...

I hooked up my "better half's" XM "Snap" receiver to the stock satellite antenna in her 2010 Justa. It works as well as, or better than, the ugly magnetic antenna that came with the receiver. The CDInt "MINI Cooper cable works like a charm.

Can't you just unscrew the panel under the seat and look?

Do you have a pic of the Snap...presumably you have it plugged into the front lighter socket....is there enough flexibilty to twist the stem to get the unit to the right angle?
Thanks Philip

Ok thanks....looks like it keeps the unit away from the cup holders and is stable.
