Can you transfer existing lifetime Sirius to R56?

Hi all - I did a search but did not come up with anything to address this question on 07 R56 exactly:

Mrs. Wingspan and I are considering a new 08 MINI to replace my daily driver BMW 330i.

I have an aftermarket Sirius radio that I have 6 months left on a yearly service.

They are offering a $399 lifetime subscription valid through 1/28/08, with a $75 transfer fee.

http://www.sirius.com/getsirius/plans

My question is, if I get a lifetime Sirius subscription on my current aftermarket radio, can I transfer that account onto a new R56, without paying MINIs $1,000 Sirius accesory fee?

Put another way, does the MINI Sirius radio come standard, and only requires activation with appropriate ESN as long as you are a valid subscriber?

No.
The lifetime that comes with the R56 belongs to the car.
Your Sirius may be transferrable, but there's no way to order Sirius without lifetime from MINI.
Well - I put Sirius into GBMINI#5 (which was ordered without), but it cost $700+; you might as well put the factory package and get lifetime.

If your after market radio is a portable, you could get the lifetime and transfer the radio to the new mini. You would then just use the aux port. You can tie into the factory antenna. You just won't be able to use car's controls to control the radio.

Yes, this is indeed now the leading plan. My radio is due for update in June of next year, but Sirius are running a special for $399 to turn it into lifetime.

Good tip on the antenna, I'll do a search for that and see how that works, as well as any aftermarket dash mounts for MINI. I currently have mine run to the back window of the E46 (inside) under the rear window sunshade and it works very well. I use an aftermarket E46 dash mount that holds the Sirius receiver. It's not well integrated into the car, but I don't fancy paying the exhorbitant fee charged by MINI ($1000) for Sirius...

Thanks again.

Getting Sirius to admit they offer lifetime subscription for the Mini has been difficult for some. Even though a few of us haven't had that problem.
