MK4 Sat Nav help

mk4 sat nav help

Help!!

Just bought a 2nd hand mk4 sat nav dvd unit to swap over for my mk3 cd unit. Removed the seat & turned the key to 1st position and ejected the old cd. Disconnected the battery and removed the cd unit. Put in the new dvd unit, which already had the dvd inside it. Put the seat back in and re-connected the battery. Sat down and put key in ignition and the screen hasn't changed! Still has all my old destinations on it Is this because we didnt remove the dvd from inside the unit first or could it be faulty? Have we done something wrong? Any ideas??

Check the 'Settings' option and see what version you're running (it's up in the top right hand corner.) CD units start with a 3, DVD units start with a 4. Perhaps there's a memory chip somewhere outside the underseat unit that holds the addresses??
Have you tried inserting a location and seeing if it reads the current map disc and provides correct directions?

SW4-1/40 indicates your Mk4 unit is running. Perhaps destinations are stored in the onboard computer instead of the Nav unit itself. I'm surprised but I guess it is possible.

SW4-1/40 is rather old firmware, probably V25 or earlier. The display screens might very well look the same as they did on your Mk3. You can upgrade your firmware, which will give you improved graphics and performance, and a few additional features such as perspective view. Especially worthwhile is that the opening nag screen will dismiss itself after a few seconds.

Here's where you can get V28: http://mini.mdsbrain.com/?p=200. The latest version is V30 but I believe V29 and V30 included no updates for the MINI unit.
