I drive a 2003 MCS with navigation and hear that BMW and Land Rover cds will work in my Mini. But I also own a Volkswagen Touareg V8. So I'm wondering will VW or Porsche nav cds work as well? Has anyone tried and does anyone know? Thanks!

The map CDs & DVDs used in the MINI OEM Nav systems are all made by NavTeq. They do sell their map data to multiple companies, but there are a few specific formats that they use.

The 1st Gen MINI Nav system specifically requires the "High" version (that's a NavTeq term) of the map discs. They moved over to the "Professional" map disc versions with the 2nd Gen MINI Nav.

So... whether or not your VW or Porsche map disc will work really depends - is it in the "High" format? Also, with a 2003 model, you have an MKIII, which means CD only, not DVD.
