I added the MINI splash screen to my Nuvi 660. If you hook up the Nuvi to your computer so that you can view it like an external hard drive, you can use your computer to browse around in the folders on the Nuvi. I don't remember exactly where the .jpg is that's used for the splash screen, but I don't remember having any trouble finding it.

Change the filename of the MINI splash screen to match the name of the splash screen that's stored on the Nuvi (if they're not the same already), and just overwrite the file on the Nuvi with the MINI one.

You might want to save a copy of the Garmin splash screen in case you ever want to go back to it.

I have the 660 and the folder was named "images" I believe. I didn't have to overwrite any files since there were several in that folder already. Once the picture was there I just went into the settings on the NUVI and changed it to the new picture.

You're right - I forgot that the Nuvi lets you pick any of your stored pictures to use as a startup screen. I was thinking of my old Garmin 276c that had a non-selectable startup screen, so the only way to change it was to replace it with a different picture that had the same name (splash.jpg).
