OEM Bluetooth
I would like to get the OEM blue tooth installed in my 2005 MCS. I have the MF steering wheel with the two buttons. What do I need and where can I get it? And how hard is it to install?
OEM Bluetooth will run you about 1200 USD and can be purchased from the dealer. Personally I wouldn't recommend it as it is not the best solution. Heck, I couldn't get my PDA phone to pair with one that was in a X3.
EAS has a good solution for about 800 USD if you have NAV.
For IPOD, I would either go with EAS (DICE) if you don't have nav and Intravee (Bimmernav.com) if you do.

We have a great solution if you don't need display of phone numbers, its plug & play - see the DIY at www.newministuff.com, it works with all bluetooth phones & gives you control from the MFSW - voice dial, answer, end, redial, volume. it mutes the stereo & plays through the speakers. - http://www.newministuff.com/new/shop...uctshow&id=256
The cost is £140 - approx $280 but we do have a NAM deal on at the moment if you put NAM on the notes section of the online order we will do it for £125 - approx $250.
For those who have the 3 spoke mfsw without the phone buttons we can supply the same kit with a new spoke button panel complete with the buttons

My take - the "full" OEM Bluetooth is only even worth consideration if you have the factory Nav to take full advantage of it. Even then, what Tom @ EAS sells is a slightly simplified version of the OEM Bluetooth system for a bunch less than the $1200 + install price from the dealer. The one that EAS sells is the same controller, same electronics (although likely a much newer revision) as the one from the dealer, so it integrates perfectly with your factory Nav.
That being said, if you don't have the OEM Nav, then much cheaper & just as effective solutions are available, including those mentioned above from mikeythemini.

Bluetooth plus Stereo?
Hi,
I have a US SPEC '07 MCS with the audio package. I also have a TomTom 910 since I'm presently living in Europe.
My question is this: the TomTom says it will connect its music via bluetooth to a HiFi stereo. Since the audio package says it includes a HiFi stereo will the aftermarket bluetooth adapter mentioned previously allow the TomTom and MCS to share music wirelessly?
Thanks in advance.

For you non-NAV Bluetooth users, hold on your purchases just yet - we have a solution coming in about a week.
Working on an OEM solution. For those on a budget looking for an alternative, the CIGblue offers about 80% of the OEM features at a much lesser cost.

Is the only way for the CIG to work is to loose the cig socket? Seems to be a way out of the way place to put the button.
Thanks in advance,

It's not required, but a perfect place since it does not require drilling.
I can think of a couple of solutions related to sacrificing the cigerette lighter socket.
1. Use a (wired) rat tail that'll plug into the lighter socket and provide two additinal outlets.
2. Install a 2nd ligher socket somewhere else on the dashboard.
My initial thouht was to plug the device into the socket in the boot, but then I realized you would not be able to reach it while driving.

This shouldn't be so hard. <G>
