How do you use this tool

This install of DICE and XM just won't go. I can't get the OEM iPod adapter uninstalled. Tom at EAS told me this was the right tool to remove the terminals...

these are the terminals...

the directions (http://rocky.digikey.com/scripts/Pro...3&M=11-03-0016) don't seem to match the reality. They show going in from the back (no access on the wire block) or from the bottom back (only see going in from the bottom front). I still can't get the wires out. I've tried going in from the top but the tool is too wide or too short (depending on which part you're talking about).

Does anybody know how to help me? I'm really not terribly dumb but this just ain't workin'.

I think the step you may be missing is that there are actually three separate connector blocks inserted into a larger block. Each of the smaller blocks should release by pressing on a plastic tab. Look at the pictures in this thread, which might help: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=11518

I don't think the tool is anything special and a small screwdriver would work just as well. You would use it to press on a metal tab on the wires, to release the pin from the connector.

I've seen that article but don't know if it applies. The white block in that write-up is one that changes CD changer for iPod and I can do that no problem. The OP in that is basically double using the right hand wire box for Nav and AUX and I have neither. That leaves what I do need to change - the black 'base' wire box that those fit into. There are two smaller wiring blocks above the white one but they seem to be made into the main block (the one you have to lift up the lever to open). There in lies my problem - I don't know how to get access to the wires with my little tool :(

The tool is there to press a small retaining barb and extract the connector. Any experienced installer can perform this for you if you continue to have trouble.
