Uh oh! Looks like my notes are wrong then. I'd better update to clarify. Thanks for letting me know!

@schatzy: Did I read too much into your posts? Is it just the address book that stopped working on the firmware upgrade, or did you end up with other problems too?

Thanks for the feedback minicounter and nicknbecka. I don't know that your information on the spreadsheet is wrong necessarily, because I have seen consistently through this thread that some people have the same phone/carrier and but not the same amount of success. I commend you for trying to keep this list updated - you are a saint and it is much appreciated!!

Since I'm considering a change of phones anyway, I want to make a wise choice not just for the BT connectivity but for overall phone satisfaction... ugh... decisions, decisions.

Does anyone have info on whether the newest version of the Blackberry Pearl works well with BT? I definitely want a qwerty keyboard and need to stay with Verizon. Thanks for any feedback.
I paired my Verizon BB Pearl 8130 with my Mini's BT a couple of days ago. It was very easy to do and I seem to have full access to my phonebook via the radio controls. Has worked perfectly for the last couple of days and keeping my fingers crossed.

FYI-I've had the BB Pearl for about 7 or 8 months and just recently got a BB World Edition with full qwerty keyboard from my work. Much prefer the Pearl over the World Edition as I've find the Pearl is much easier to type on which is contrary to what you would expect given the World Edition's full qwerty keyboard. I've been really happy with the Pearl.

Thanks Linda. I saw your post after I posted... not sure why it didn't turn up in my search.

Its good to hear that it works well with Mini's BT and you like the phone as well.

I was trying to avoid the monthly data charge of $30-35 Verizon hits you with when you go with a smart phone/Blackberry, since I don't use it for email but I may have to suck it up to get the phone I want and have it work well with Mini BT.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you as well that you continue to have success with your BB/BT combo.

If it were me (and I have a Tmob BB Pearl) I'd just stay with the LG and you could always roll back the firmware so the phonebook would load to the car. Firmware updates usually don't do a thing for you anyway. The BB requires a $30 data charge with VZN, which you need for txt/mms anyway. They won't sell it without it. If you like the LG you can use it in the Mini just fine. Saves you almost $400/year too.

From everything I've heard on NAM threads and what Verizon has told me, you can't get an earlier firmware of the LG. The 07 is the version on the phone when I purchased it. If what Minicounter said a few posts ago, and it works well minus the phone book transfer, then I may be fine with the Voyager 07.

I hear what you are saying with saving $$$ and the additional data charge... I'm weighing my options and have 8 weeks to decide. At least it gives me something to do while I wait for "Little Boy Blue" to arrive.

Maybe on LG phones you can't go back to older firmware/OS. People do it with Blackberries all the time (any carrier), because RIM makes the OS/FW so it'll work with a VZN BB even if Vodaphone UK offered the firmware. You could call Verizon and ask. Don't waste your time asking somebody at a store. I'll never go into a cellphone store again!

I think really it depends on the day of the week and whether your MINI matches your eye color (mine does)

I think schatzy62 was able to roll-back firmware on his phone that was upgraded, but the upgraded firmware over-wrote some parts of the phone that rolling back did not reverse, so there's no change in the newly-broken functionality.

Thanks for the detailed report yblaser!

Did you need to setup voice tags for the voice dial to work?

Thanks! That's a new one for the list. Have you tried voice dialing?

No problem. No need to set up voice tags. It worked immediately after pairing it.

KRZR K1

KRZR K1 with software version R4527_G_08.42.0ER on the Rogers (Canada) network.

Not shown specifically on the wireless4mini.com site, but is listed in the lastest BMW BT bulletin.

Hi Steve !

I am in Austria EU and knowing BMW for years, I do not believe the cradles for US could be different from EU minis. Best you can do: check with a good local BMW dealer!

Otherwise Nokia 6310i rocks (as you probably already know). I tried several other phones with the mini - but looks the old timer delivers much stronger signal !

Enjoy your mini - the only fun car !

The enV2's can work or not work completely, depending on the firmware version that's on the phone. I've got notes in the spreadsheet linked in my sig for the ones that have been reported so far.

A Motorola V3 Razr (since accidentally destroyed) and now an iPhone 3GS. Don't know how to make the car's voice activation work. Keeps telling me "SYSTEM IS OFF." I think it should work, but I can't find good instructions. Can anyone help this novice? (Our road trip in the MINI to Durango was fabulous -- 6 waves, one set of flashing lights [not the blue and red type] and got waved through on a parade route).

Any help would be appreciated...as at this point, I'm clueless!

Voice activation is dependant on many things.

1. If you have a Non NAV car then the system has to be programed with the numbers and names. There is a limit of 20 names. See instructions here. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-08-minis.html

2. If you have a car with OEM integrated NAV (i.e. in the speedo) then the car takes the voice commands and sends them to the phone so the voice dial system on the phone then uses the contact list in the phone for dialing.

Yo may also want to look here for other notes on the operation of the iPhone 3GS in the MINI. This is the most complete and up to date listing of what works and limitations for the 2nd gen cars.https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?...fA&hl=en#gid=0

you might already have it, but I've been using my Verizon 9530 (Storm 1) with the MINI BT since I purchased Sarah Jane and everything works as expected. I can access the address book and the various call logs. I don't know about voice dialing since I removed that feature from my BB software because of all the false phone activations I got when I had the BB in pocket and the headset connected so I could listen to my MP3's.

Hi Mat,

Actually, the MINI's voice dialing is all handled on the car's side of things- completely separate from the voice dialing built in to the Blackberry, so you can still use it. You might think of it as a really, really big Bluetooth headset with a phone dialer built in.

The link in Schatzy's post has more info on setting it up if you have a car without the factory nav system, but if you've got the Bluetooth options, Nav and it's syncing your address book all you have to do is push the telephone button on your steering wheel and say "Call address book name".
