It's an extension of the Boost head unit, but other than the same head unit, a completely different setup.

Wave is the most basic stereo available in a MINI, but it was never offered here in the USA.

Boost is a step up from Wave.

H/K is a step up from Boost.

DPSM is a step up from H/K (but it can only be installed if you have Boost to start with).

Also, this question only relates to 1st Gen MINIs so I'm moving the thread there.

Thank you. So if I have a Harmon Kardon then I have a Boost? Correct?

You have a Boost head unit, true... but the rest of the wiring for the speakers, etc is completely different with the Harman Kardon, so you have to take that into account for whatever you have in mind.

Believe me, I know all too well.

And there are two different versions of the "Boost" radio, made by different manufacturers. Although they look different, they're compatible and use the same harness, so it shouldn't matter as far as compatibility/upgrades go.

Not sure what you mean by "where to find these". Are you looking for a Boost radio?
