Sounds like a good decision to me. Replacing one MCSC for another seems like not enough of a change and hard to justify when the 2nd gen convertible is not that far away.

You might also consider MINI's portable add-on Nav. The wire connections will probably be cleaner and better integrated with the stereo.

From what I understoon the Mini one is just a NUVI 350 and the mount was incompatible with the Chrono pack that I have. No offense to the second gen folks but that was part of my thinking on getting a new cabrio now - could still get the original that I love

Food for thought here: It's not the size of the screen that counts, but how you use it that counts. That being said, it doesn't matter how big the screen is, because in heavy bumper to bumper traffic you can't use it. You can't look at the picture and drive at the same time in bad traffic. It's the voice directions and street by name that is important in the GPS unit. The picture, and size of it, is secondary.

This is a good point. I never look at the GPS in any car. I just listen to the direction on when to turn (Except for the gps that also displays below my tach (not a MINI).
