Nuvi 360 with traffic option

Hi everyone, we just got a nuvi 360 a couple weeks ago and love it! Just wanted to know if anyone bought the extra traffic option and do you think it's worth the $160. Thanks for your input in advance.

It really depends on where you are. I stopped using the traffic service on my Nuvi 660 after the free trial period ran out. In the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area, they just didn't monitor very many roads, and the information seemed very "stale". Often, I'd be sailing down a road that my GPS showed as congested, or stuck in a traffic jam that the GPS knew nothing about.

The company that provides the traffic data is TMC. You can go here and click on the "coverage map" tab to see what cities and roads they monitor. For Pennsylvania, it looks like just Philly and Pittsburgh, and I don't know how many of the roads in each city they actually monitor. The individual roads that are monitored are shown in red, but I can't tell if they're just the major roads or not.

Thanks for the input. Your right the map they show is just the major roads in our area. I was thinking about getting it because my wife has to travel to North Jersey about 3 times a month. She just got caught last week over there when a storm blew thru and flooded the road and knocked a tree down on Rt 78. She was glad we bought the Nuvi that day because she had to find her way home on a different route. I just thought if it showed her a problem she wouldn't have wasted so much time sitting in stopped traffic.

I just ordered a 370, because the traffic is included, and therefore cheaper than adding it to the lower models. I got it because I now have a long commute but I'm not sure how much of it will be monitored. I'm really waiting for Dash to come out which will do its own traffic and average-speed data for all roads.

Thanks for the link, pretty amazing stuff. Good luck with the 370 and please let us know how the "traffic" works out.
