iPod connection

Hello

I recently bought the OEM ipod interface, and i install it my self, but when i play my ipod there is a little pzzzzz sound that annoy me. Other thing that i didn't like is that i need to create special playlist and it doesn't show the artist and song names.
I am thinking on buying the DICE iPod Integration Kit, but I want to be sure if i wont get any annoying sound and if i will get the artist and song names on my radio.
I have a 2004 MCS with HK and Radio Boost CD.

Does any one knows any other way to connect the ipod?. I'll like to keep the clean factory looking and the option of controlling it using the steering wheel.

Thanks for any ideas!

The background noise can possibly be from the backlight on the iPod, there's nothing that can be done about the Playlist requirements on the MINI kit.

For the DICE, this is the kit you need:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW (Radio Interface R40)
http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...roducts_id=660

The DICE iPod Kit integrates perfectly with your MINI and offer steering wheel control as well as ID3 text (only on 2005+, sorry) and charging of your iPod. Full CD Quality can be expected after installation. There's even an integrated AUX port for other devices.

The kit will come with everything needed w/ the docking cable. The iPod can be safely stored away in the glove compartment for 100% stealth installation and accessed completely from the steering wheel controls.

However the iPod's Clickwheel is fully unlocked and you can still see text display on the iPod's screen - unlike the MINI kit.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Your radio is simply not text capable. If you were to swap to a MY05+ radio, this feature will be present.

Tom - what is the difference between the model you suggest above, item #660 and the other DICE Kit you offer for MINI's, item # 314 ?

Simply how the kit connects to the radio. Item 660 (R40 interface) will connect directly at the rear of the radio, eliminating the need for routing a cable from the trunk.

Other than connection, both kits are the same.

Both are NAV compatible? If so can you configure the system to display the playlist on the NAV screen?

Thanks!

I just had the dealer install the ipod interface in my 2006 mcs, but I don't get any text on the head unit. should I? am I missing a switch somewhere? everything seems to be working fine, otherwise.

The kit is compatible with NAV, but Playlist directories are not permitted by the ipod while in simple iPod mode.

the use of voicetgas would be the best in your situation:

Adding Speech Voicetags to your DICE/iPod Playlists

If this is the MINI-offered kit, you do not have this feature. Only the DICE offers text display.
