official OEM SIRIUS for Convertibles

Hey everyone,

I just found out from my MINI tech that they now have an "official" OEM SIRIUS receiver solution for the R52s. It does involve a separate antenna (much like an aftermarket one), but they've figured out the mount for the reciever too. It gets installed under the passenger seat, which is also where the H/K amplifier goes if you have it.

Interestly enough he said the installation is MUCH easier if you already have the H/K in your convertible, because it provides a place to mount the reciever. If you don't have H/K, it can still be done, but more work.

Anyhow, I know some of you R52 owners out there will be happy to learn that there's an officially supported solution now, instead of having to jury-rig the hardtop solution!

I look forward to seeing pics of one 'officially' installed by the dealer. We have Sirius in our MCS and MCSa and would love to add it to our MCC w/o kludging it.

Ask your dealer about it - maybe you can be the first documented case on NAM!

already done

I posted about my OEM install for the MCSC a few months ago. (Think I installed it in march). Bought the OEM cabrio install kit but didn't use many parts for it as the kit mostly includes the template and cover if you don't have HK. Does have the sirius bracket though which you need. Even mounted the wart in my grill in front of the windshield. Would post a link to my pic, but not sure how....

Oops, my bad. I must have missed your post(s) on it? Or perhaps if I saw it, I thought it was a case of jury-rigging the coupe version into a cabrio, instead of an "official" cabrio install.
