What time Saturday were you thinking? We should have a couple cars from Indiana in the area. We could meet you at Patrick or any of the multitude of parking lots along the way since Patrick would require a left turn across traffic.

The Indianapolis route on Friday is almost complete... it offers people a bunch of opportunities to join in along the route and should give people options to get to the event. I'll post details on the MINICCI forum and here. Don't know what I'll be driving I'll either the passenger in my wife's new MCS or I'll be in my classic making the gerbils run as fast as they can, but I hope we have a nice group as we head up.

This SCCA event is relatively low key and not a very crowded event. For the last two years I've attended this SCCA event and have been able to go on the track for a lunchtime touring session. 30 minutes track time for $10. Speed you are able to go was only limited by how comfortable you were around the other cars on the track and how hard you wanted to push yourself and your car. Last year there were less than 30 cars on the track and passing was allowed. Tickets were available at the building by the gas station in the paddock. If our MTTS tickets don't allow us into the paddock, you will need to be signed up as a guest of one of the SCCA participants to get access.

As an SCCA member, most of the time you can get into the track as a guest of the region putting on the race and pay the nominal $10. No guarentee that this would work this weekend. This National Race is one of the bigger weekends, but not open to the public. That's why it seems like work to find a way to get into the track.
On another note, I found this on the ApexSpeed sight (I race formula fords) about an available hotel room. It looks like more nights than what is needed, but it IS a room....

For those interested in the route from Indy information has been posted on the MINICCI Forum http://minicci.proboards85.com. Should be a fun drive.

Few tips to make your MTTS trip a little better
Just some helpful tips to make your Chicago trip just a little better.
Don't buy gas in Chicago or you will pay the highest prices you have ever seen. If you are coming in from IN, get it there before crossing the state line. Coming in from the South get it before getting to interstate 80. Coming in from the west and northwest get it before the toll starts. This will give you a full tank to enjoy on Friday and not need to buy gas till you are in WI where it's less money.
Do not run red lights to stay with your group. Chicago and a few sub burbs have countless Red Light Cams and you really don't want "that" post card from Chicago a few months from now asking for more money.
Do not skip the tolls they will get even more of your cash if you do.
I listen to 890 AM for the best traffic reports.
Do not speed in construction zones, we have more then one Photo Van mailing out hundreds of tickets a day.
Make sure you "really" can park there, we have the fastest tow trucks in the world and they are not flat beds.
This winter was very hard on our roads, most of them have been fixed, but play it safe, if the guy in front of you moves around something you might want to do the same.
I love living in the Greater Chicago area and the above tips will help you better enjoy your visit to our Great City.

Saturday morning we (my wife and I) will be heading up from Patrick and taking a backroads route.
It is more scenic and under less construction than going up via the lunar surface of 94.
If anyone cares to tag along pm me. Not sure what time yet since we don't know if we are meeting anyone yet.

What Expressway are we on????
It dawned on me today listening to a traffic report that our guests may not know the names of our expressways, well now you will.
290 is, The Eisenhower, runs east/west out of the City,
When on the Eisenhower the SAFE lane is the middle one.
90 north of the City is, The Kennedy, northwest of O'hare, it's the Northwest/Jane Addams
94 north of the City is the Edens till you get to
294/94 then it's the Tri-State, 294 is always the Tri-State
94 south of the City is The Dan Ryan till it gets to
57 then it's called the Bishop Ford south to 80/294/94
57 is just 57, guess we'll name that after one of our local crooks soon.
90 south of the city is called the Skyway and it's a Toll road, but cool bridge.
55 is called the Stevenson and runs south from 80 north all the way to Lake Shore Drive aka LSD, The Drive, and Lake Shore. LSD Song, still played here daily.
88 is called the Reagan and runs from the far west and become 290
355 is called Veterans
See that's easy.
We also have a few "express" lanes that limit where you can get off, they work well most of the time for going into or out of the City.
Bring a GPS if you have one.
It's fun to Google our expressway names, most of them are not what you think. Mr Edens, didnt even own a car, but built a road.
