The Track Rat in me is disappointed. Having an event at Road America, one of America's premier natural-terrain road racing circuits and not having hot lap sessions is a crime against the very nature of a MINI. Didn't they offer laps at Zandvoort in the European gathering. Why can't they offer something similar here.

I just booked a room at the Days Inn in Sheboygan Falls. I've never stayed there but none of my usual places were available (hotel space is always a challenge around there) and it looks decent and convenient enough. I'm doing the American Le Mans weekend the week after and maybe the vintage weekend the week before and wishing I could just stay there the whole time rather than making three round-trips from Michigan.

Edit: oops, ALMS is two weeks after.

The Milwaukee Region SCCA has an event going on the same weekend as MTTS. Seems like all the weekends at RA are booked, so I don't know whether MINIUSA can be faulted too much for that.

I plan on driving up to St. Louis Thursday, spending the night and driving on in to the University on Friday. Any others from St. Louis driving up?

Well my plans have changed. Summer is finally here and I turned on the A/C in my house Thursday. Compressor is gone, so for only a small fortune (7k) I can replace the entire A/C, Cond, and heating unit.
Living in the heat sucks. New unit installed next Wednesday after Memorial Day. Well, I'll be energy efficient and pay back is around 4 years.

7K I hope you got a 2nd bid. $7K seems way too high, even for a union town like Chicago.

3 bids - TRANE 18 SEER Unit - 3 stage cond and a/c and dual stage heat. Plus I get a nice credit from Uncle Sam (2008 taxes) for saving energy . And a $500 Discount from TRANE for being a licensed Architect.
But, I'm planning on being there next year where ever MINI USA decides it to be.

I'm heading up on Thursday. I've got a pulley and intake to install Thursday night. If anyone else wants me to bring them something let me know.

See you guys there!

I will be heading up to the Mil-Chicago wing of the trip. Staying in Chicago then heading up to Road america with the others.

Look for the "MINI TAKES THE STATE" MCC Hot Orange Again.
For those who I saw and met in 2006 MTTS.

What luck I have friends that live 8 miles from Road America who have wanted us to visit for ages. Otherwise I'd be driving to and from Madison at $400 per night!

The hotels in the area traditionally raise rates a lot once they realize it's going to be a busy weekend. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and Americinn in Sheboygan. The Holiday Inn is pretty good, the Americinn somewhat less so. The Americinn had no Internet access one time I was there, I told them about it and they said it was a temporary problem, I was back there about a month later and it was still out.

Glad I got a good rate at the Day's in when I did.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn in West Bend, WI Saturday. May not be next door, but it gives us a head start home and the chance to avoid Chicago traffic. $107 for the night.

Ran to Schaumberg for a reasonable room for Friday Night's stay anyone know if Patrick MINI is planning a caravan to the Zoo?

Hey Mike, there many hotels in WI near/in Milwaukee that will not rob you blind and save you hours of driving. My GF and I have used Priceline a few times and had the Hilton Downtown Milwaukee for $60 a night on the weekend. My 2 cents.

From West Bend, take 45 to 23 and on over to Elkhart Lake, rather than 41. It's faster (although you'll hit some stoplights in Kewaskum)--when you come to 45 on 23 you'll be 20 minutes from Elkhart Lake. If you really want to go scenic, I can give you an even better route that takes about the same time (maybe even a little quicker), on good roads with virtually no police or traffic, but its easy to get lost on....

Actually anyone coming up 41 can split off and take 45 up to 23 right outside of Milwaukee--its the Cabella's exit.
