Some explanations why we can´t do files and changes within a few days. First – we are busy like hell (good thing ;-)). But one thing is more important. There are plenty of different ECU setting out there. I do not mean the upgrades which you get from the dealers - but settings are also different within the ECU. So even if two cars have let´s say V42 installed it does not mean that all settings are the same. We have to check each and every file and see where it is different, then make the adjustments. If we do not do that carefully you might encounter major problems. Pretty time consuming. And then there are still customers with other cars than MINI and tuning companies worldwide that also want their files yesterday.

We are working on something to speed things up (just employed another guy) but so far we simply can´t. We are already running behind with many things such as the new HP and the shop.

Hope for your understanding!

Volker

I know what you mean.
With all the current technologies: phone/fax/email, people sometimes find it unacceptable if it takes 2 days to respond... In the old days it took 2 days at least to send a letter over to someone and than 2 days to send it back.

At least you let us know your busy and that the files are pretty labour intensive. Helps us all understand better why it can take some time before you can get back to us.

cheers,
Peter

Ok sorry to put a dampner on the new version but I still have problems

The flat spot is not as pronounced as it was but still apparent starting around 2800rpm, but the whole power band feels very weak.

I dont know where to go from here? Remove the injectors and go back to standard MTH? I have paid the 300Euro though?

I got my V7 Tuner file uploaded yesterday, with the help of MiniS2005DS and his laptop!

First, the upload itself went perfectly! One of the few time it went in at the first try. And it was also very fast! Great job MiniS2005DS!

I drove about 100km yesterday with the new file. The first thing I noticed it that my DSC light still goes on (and stays on) as soon as I hit 6800rpm... but it's really not a big deal. If I shut the car, and start it again, everything is fine, so I guess it's the price to pay to have fun! lol

The flatspot itself is removed at about 95%! On a smooth takeoff, the RPM moves much more "freely" and it doesn't seem to hesitate or "lag" at around 3000rpm, like it used to do before. The only time I still could notice the flatspot (it happened only once yesterday with the V7 file) is when getting on the highway, at around 70km/h, in 4th gear. There's still a little flatspot, but it's really thin, and lasts for about 200rpm, compared to 1000-1200rpm with the "old" Tuner file.

I don't feel like it has more power, maybe 1-2hp as Volker said. But the extra smoothness gives the feeling of having more power. Before, the car would give a boost of power at around 4000rpm, which I thought it was normal. But the 1000-4000rpm had a lot less punch. Now, with V7 file, the power is very smooth and linear, from the low RPMs to the redline!

Bottom line : I now feel like it worth it spending the extra $$$ on Tuner file! I had all the MTH version (first MTH, MTH Version 5, Tuner, TunerV7) and this one is the best I ever uploaded! Now MTH is ready for a dyno-day against other ECU brands!

Thanks to Franz, Volker, MiniS2005DS, and all other MTH people around here! (CooperSi,...) Great job !

I know how you feel!

Just create a hotmail account and use it only to get your new Tuner file as soon as possible!

You need to contact the MTH dealer that did your MTH file, or direct from volker if you got it from him...

You need your existing MTH file, what mods you have got to your MINI and also what fuel you use (ie 91 RON for example)....all this info gets sent to your MTH dealer/Volker...

Then wait a few days and your new vt_7 file will arrive

The hardest part is when you upload the file and find the flat spot still exists

Maybe your flat spot is not related to MTH then...

Have you tried to adjust your S/C bypass valve? If you have a boost gauge, you can see if you're losing boost somewhere.

I've had the flat spot since I upload my first Tuner file, and I can definitively say that the new Tuner V7 gets rid of the major part of the flat spot!

Perfect, I'll contact Volker about the update. My car is in the shop so the wait won't be so bad.:impatient

You should send an email to Volket about this... 10 days is way too long for such a wonderful update file!

Seriously, if you've wait that long, ask Vloker for news about your file... and make sure to post your comments on the new file here too!

btw, I drove 400km on the new file this week and I can say that it's awesome! The flat spot is not noticable in most cases, and when I can feel it, it's only for about 200rpm, so it's very thin and not a problem anymore! I cannot say that it adds more power, but since it's much smoother than before, it's a lot more fun to drive. I switched to winter steelies, but I can still say that my car runs smoother and somehow better than ever before! My car has 110 000km and it still runs strong and smooth as it never did before! A funny thing it that the last 30 000km were the most fun I ever had with my car... It never run so good, smooth, and strong! Things get better with age!

Yep, I PM'd him a week or so ago. Guess they're just real busy. Still... it's two weeks tomorrow for me, and other folks seem to be getting their updates. Hope they didn't forget me...

after 2 weeks without any news from MTH, I'd re-send my files back, to make sure they received it!

2 full weeks is a bit long!

Yes...perhaps for normal MTH tuning...but they were most-likely hit was a massive wave of requests for this fix....I'm sure they're under more pressure than usual to get these out...
