ACS/DCS, what does the MTH really do with these.

I have a 2003 MINI Cooper, not an S, just loaded the turner file, that does not have any switches for ACS or DSC. I have seen that the MTH file added ACS, or DCS depending on who said it and in what thread.

So since there is not switch in my cockpit, can anyone say for sure if the turner file activated either of these?

Thank you,

You cannot activate the DSC on a car that did not come with it from the factory. If there is no switch that you dont have DSC or ASC. It only changes the force that the ASC kicks in by like 50nm if you have it.

ASC / DSC are factory options. DSC actually has a harware component.

MTH does not add ASC or DSC but it modifies the parameters to be less intrusive. I personally found the DSC from the factory way OVER intrusive, and almost dangerous, since it would always kick in when I was turning into traffic from a stop.

ASC only remove torque from engine when a wheel spins, or the car gets out of control.

DSC uses ASC and all 4 brakes to control the car.

DSC also has yaw and steering input sensors; it can better "detect" what you're intending to do and help the car follow through. For example, if the rear starts to step out to the right in a fast left-hander, DSC will apply the inside-rear brake to help pull the car around the corner.
