BMW options enabling and MTH?

Hi MTH folks!

I'm about to add a switch and "enable" the OBC option on my MCS, but I have a quick question...

I know I'll have to go to a MINI dealer to get the OBC option activated on my ECU... (as with Follow me home lights, ...)

Will the MINI dealer erase my MTH Tuner file or they just enable something on a different "section" of the ECU software...???

Thanks for any help!

btw, if Volker reads this, why not ask Franz lol!

If it just for enabling OBC or follow me home etc., nothing will happen. If the dealer uploads a new SW version, the MTH is gone. In that case send us your files (min, org and MTH) and we adjust it accordingly.

And no, I did not have to ask Franz about that.

Thanks Volker!

I was wondering because I have my own OBD cable, but no a computer to do the flashes...

And I love my MINI software version + MTH, so why bother having to change!

Thanks again Volker!

I've never seen this answered definitively, just from word of mouth.

Obviously this can affect your warranty, but practically, how hard (or easy) is it for the MINI techs to know that you have MTH on your car when you take it in for a service?

Under normal circumstances they will not find out. A dealer does not have the tools nor the knowledge to check on that. But, if someone looks real hard and knows where and what to look for, he will find out.

So if you are really worried, switch back to standard file before you take your car in for service and afterwards back to MTH. In that case no one will notice anything.

Nope, no charge to adjust your existing MTH file to the new dealer SW.
