I am new to the mini community and I dont want to miss this. Can someone give me some info of what to do or how to make the best of it being so late. I am in fayettville NC from fort bragg so I cant miss a big event that close to me.

You are never to late to Join the MINI fun =D First see if you can find a place to stay maybe check the lodging thread on here ?? If there is nothing there just try calling around you may have to stay off site and drive to Fontana. As far as going on day drives you could always ask the lead driver if you could join if it wasn't a prepay thing?? There are LOTS of things to do in the area and I am sure you can find someone to hang out with at sometime. Everyone is very friendly and you will for sure have a blast whatever you do =)

GOOD LUCK ! Hope you are able to come =)

I registered with motd but it would not let me actually register for the event it is letting me sign up for other events but not the dragon.

I am lost theres so much info I am trying to plan it out now so far I am going to do the mini parade friday, and a photo shoot friday as well.

Whats some suggestions for the best places to go and best things to do. As for staying I posted on the thread here but worst case scenario ill just drive away from it until a place has vacancys. Or just me and my friend will sleep in my mini : )

Official registration closed April 16th but you don't HAVE to be registered to go lots of people just show up.

For sure join the dragon Parade =) nothing better than lots of MINIs driving together =)
Everything you do is going to be a drive You could always take a trip to Gatlinburg and pigeon forge and try to go to cades cove it is a BIG wild life type park and there are like OLD OLD cabins it is BEAUTIFUL ! and there is lots to do in that area. You can try getting in on bingo if there is room it is $10 I believe at the door if they have enough room left. There is always just hanging area at the resort it is very nice and lots of people are there at all times.Maybe also try to find the bridal veil falls and the dry falls they are really neat. You could go to cherokee it is a native american area there is a casino there ?? and some other stuff. You can get in on the ice cream run to Bryson city it gets busy, also there is a place called the road to no where around there it is a long road to a old tunnel that never got finished the tunnel is kind creepy and people write on the walls at stuff.

The best thing you could do it just talk to people when you get there get a feel of what other people are doing and where they are going. Lots of times people are doing drives on there own and don't mind others joining or could give you suggestions on how to get to fun places.

I will tell you though there is little to NO cell phone service at the resort and most of the area. Also fill up before hitting the Dragon they have gas station near the resort but it gets pricey.

Try seeing if there are rooms open in Robinsville or Bryson those are about as close as you are going to get to Fontana still a good drive though =( sadly everything is quit the drive ....

Trust me the first time is over whelming for sure but you wont regret it =)
If you have any other questions just let me know =)
Look for me when you get there =) I drive a black MINI s with pink mirror caps and pink strips down the side I am from INDIANA my Name is Becky and my boyfriends name is Danny =D we love talking to new people.
Safe travels

As stated above, you don't necessarily have to register to attend. This will be my sixth MOTD....I think I have done registration twice, but have never done any of the group activities or dinners. It's become an annual meetup for a friend of mine from Nashville, TN and I (from indianapolis). We usually hit fontana to check out the vendors, tag along on the ice cream run drive and maybe the parade, but the rest of the time we hop in one of our MINIs and just go explore....usually with our final destination some random town to have dinner. The last couple of years I have towed my motorcycle down with me to get some riding in and plan to do that as well. There is lots to see and do in the area and you could easily spend a few days just driving around and exploring or checking out all of the amazing dams and scenery.

We will be at the fontana campground again this year. The electric campsites are HUGE. If you need a place to stay and have camping gear, you might try to find someone to share a site with. If you can't find a place, send me a pm this week and maybe we can share with you.....as long as you are not a loonie or a psycho.....just kidding (kinda). We will both arrive on Thursday evening and will stay thru Sunday.

If you end up just going and plan to look for accommodations when you get there but don't have any luck, we will be at the campground (below dam). Not sure which spot, but look for two laser blue MCSs, a big *** tent, a trailer, and a motorcycle. Should be easy to spot. Names are Chris and Mark.
