Kancamagus Highway Ride
Kancamagus Highway Ride
Has anyone motored on the Kancamagus Highway before? It's quite a ride! It's a 26.5 mile ride along one of the most scenic foliage routes in the US! You start in Lincoln, NH and travel through the White Mountains while climbing to the peak of Mt. Kancamagus, and end in Conway, NH (or you can go from Conway to Lincoln). It follows SR-112 and it is quite the drive, reaching a peak elevation of 2855 feet (lowest elevation of 850 feet). It is a HIGHLY popular drive during the foliage season (late September/early October). I was thinking about getting a MINI meet up there sometime. I just didn't know who would be interested. I don't exactly when either. I'd just like to see who'd be interested in going. We can work out a time and date later. I was even thinking about getting something together for the spring of 2011 (April/May) and making a weekend of it. Even though it's a very beautiful drive with fall foliage, it's still a beautiful drive during the spring and summer. If anyone is interested, post a reply. For videos and pictures of it, Google or YouTube "Kancamagus Highway".

I hope to get a good amount of MINI owners to want to take the drive!

Thanks, I just sent them a message! I really would like to get something together soon and then put together a whole weekend thing (Friday - Sunday) together in the spring. I think it would just be too much to try and get a big group together in the fall due to it's HUGE popularity. The spring isn't quite as bad but it's still a STUNNING ride then too!

I'm game. I live here in NH and hit the Kanc a couple of times a year.
I recommend starting in Lincoln, going over towards conway and then hanging a left on to Bear Notch Road. Fresh pavement, twisties, beautiful views and less traffic than the Kanc. At the end, Bang a right and head into Conway. Stop in at Attitash for a few outdoor activities, head over to Conway for some food and outlet shoppng and head on back to Lincoln.
It makes for a great day/weekend.
FYI - Minis On Top has a summer run and they take over the Kanc and points nearby for some motoring good times.

Great! I'm thinking about maybe September 11-12th for a run. I just found out that MOT happens every year during June
How I didn't know about MOT is a mystery!!! I've only been up there once, and it was a long time ago (like 8 years ago). I really wanted to have something going on in New England, but I don't want to steal MOT's thunder with doing the same thing! Maybe I can figure out something else to do for the spring that's in the area and we can try to get something going on. I would like to see some more events in our area up here. Something like MOT, MOTD, or MITM. I wish I lived a little closer to some of the events, and that's the main reason I want to try and put something together in the spring-time. If anyone has any ideas, let me know! I don't know of a lot of scenic drives up here besides the Kancamagus Highway that would be a great MINI drive so if you have an idea, I would love to hear it!
