A MINI Vacation in Vegas 2004

>>Is the track time off for sure? did we just not have enough people sign up?
According to NorCal MINIs they officially have canceled the track time due to lack of interest. Not enough people signed up. They were off by quite a few people to be able to afford renting the track.
I'm sure the track may still have the date available, so if someone else wants to give it a shot to see if they can make it work, that'd be fine. However, at this stage of the game, I'd like to see them rent the track and pay everything up front to ensure the event is a go regardless of the number of people signing up.
Here's the web-site for the track: http://www.bragg-smith.com also http://www.bragg-smith.com/programs/corporate.html

Survey results look pretty good. It's only been running for a week and here's the numbers:
119 surveys taken
91% would go to a Friday party
92% would go to a Saturday car show / social event
153 people to attend a Saturday $40 dinner
I hope this helps people who want to organize the sub-events. This survey in no way makes these events official. Please be sure to check the events page (http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/events.htm) for an up-to-date list of events. The events page is dynamic so be sure to check it in February.

I'd like to find out if anyone is interesting in going to Driving101 school at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday the 6th. I f there are at least 10 people who'd go, then you could get the group rate. The details on the driving school can be found at the http://www.driving101.com web site. If 10 or more people contact me with serious interest in doing so, I'll get you in contact with a person who will get the group rate set-up. This is not an AMO sponsored event, but would be set-up thru a representative of LVMS.

Only two weeks until the festivities begin!
Whew! A lot has happened in the last few weeks since I've last sent out information. The schedule of events has really shaped up nicely. More and more vendors are coming aboard helping out with goodies for the goodie bags (each participant should receive one) and some vendors have been generous enough to provide door prizes which will be give away on Saturday afternoon at the park.
Sierra Vista Minis has put together a photo scavenger hunt called Mini 21. Details to be posted soon. Sierra Vista Minis has also organized a fun run for Friday day going to Mt. Charleston. This will be a very beautiful drive up to the snow capped peaks just to the West of Las Vegas.
Friday evening in the lobby of the Stardust I will have a guest book for people to sign, as well as be giving out the goodie bags. Event posters will be available for $5.00 each.
Just after the guest book signing session, Lee Ann Schneider has arranged a Mini Kick Off Party at the Aladdin Casino. Cost is $30.00 per person and will include a buffet dinner, all taxes and gratuities. All profits will go to a charity called the Mary McLeod Bethune Transitional Center for Homeless Students. More details to be posted soon.

Come out and meet all the people you see online! Additional information on this event will be provided soon on the AMVIV and NorthAmericanMotoring.com websites.

I had an email sent to me where concerns were raised about the timing of the schedule of events. I thought this was important to pass along to everyone. Here's some of my reasoning behind how I set the weekend's schedule.
My original intentions for this weekend was to give people choices. Unlike some schedules of group functions I've seen, there will be lots of flex time and opportunity for participants to enjoy themselves in whatever manner they see fit.
I've already included in my fun-run notes (which I will be printing and handing out), that people are allowed to return to Vegas at any time, which gives them the flexibility and freedom to explore things that might interest them. There's no real "group return" on any of the fun-runs, just the group departure. As a matter of fact most of the fun-runs have optional return routes to provide a bit more fun and spontaneity into the vacation.
The route I've choosen for Valley Of Fire fun-run is about 2.5 to 3 hours long. Giving about an hour to 90 minutes of flex time until the noon fun run.
Red Rock is a 90 minute round trip. Giving 30 minutes of flex time. So those who want to get back to Vegas at the very start of the Meet and Greet Show event at Sunset park will be able to do so.
I'm trying to keep the vacation as relaxed as possible and much of the relaxation is due to the free-flowing schedule. Not all events will be attended by everyone, but I've tried to schedule it in such a way as to include as many people as possible. Most people are traveling in on Friday and leaving on Sunday (as evident by the motel reservations), hence the reason most functions are during Friday Night and Saturday.
There may event be an optional fun-run, not listed on the schedule, where people can motor to and enjoy a great vista.
So, I guess you might be able to look at the schedule like a buffet of events. Pick and choose. Take in as much as you want, or can, for each one. It's going to be a great vacation!

All,
A Mini Vacation in Vegas event shirts will be sold at the Pulley Party on Fridan the 6th and from 5:00 to 7:00 or so at the Registration in the Stardust's Lobby. Also at any time someone can catch me and I have them in hand.
Various colors available and S,M,L,XL,XXL,XXXL (larger sizes are limited in quantity but should have enough M,L,XL, and XXL
They will be $10.00 each so try to have a $10.00 bill as it will be quicker not to have to make change for everyone and when my pully is done I want to TRY IT OUT!!

Hello all,
I just wanted to thank all of you who have shown interest in the A Mini Vacation In Vegas event. Remember, I choose the location and time, but it's you who will make it an event!
A few new items I just wanted to share with all of you:
* MiniMania will be there with their Stage III MINI Cooper S that was in Motor Trend magazine Feb 2004. http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/minimania.htm
* There will be Mini only parking at the Stardust. Look for the special roped off area.
* All of the Las Vegas media has been notified of our presence in their city, so smile pretty!
* There's going to be a Slot tourney after the Friday night dinner. http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/events.htm
* Preview the event tee-shirts at http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/shirt.htm
* Get you camera warmed up for the Mini 21 photo scavenger hunt. http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com/mini21.htm
Everything else about the event is covered at http://www.aminivacationinvegas.com

p.s. If you're planning to meet up at the MINI North Scottsdale dealership on Friday AM, please RSVP with me by no later than noon Thursday so I can get the dealership the head count so there's enough breakfast to go around.
