Now I'm debating the dinner...

My Mom is coming with me this year and since she isn't into MINIs, she doesn't want to pay for a dinner/registration (I think she's in the trip mainly for Mesa Verde, which we will be visiting after MitM).

Is anyone else going to be a lone diner? I had fun last time I went alone, even though sometimes I felt like Bridget Jones at the "smug marrieds" dinner, surrounded by happy couples...

If you skip the dinner, you skip the prizes

and as you know, most people walk away with something.

Ask your mom if she can give you 2 hours. There are many other outlets right in the resort, and she could spend far more than $28 at any of them, and still not get any freebies. But we want her around after dinner so she can jump in the car and head up Mt. Evans, at Midnight, to 14,246 ft, paved all the way, nekkid, with the rest of us....

He has a new outfit this year

You will not want to miss it.

Think 'Yoga' and spandex, the great equalizer.

He might even wear that pink t-shirt with the Susan G Komen ribbon on it. The one that says 'Help Save 2nd Base'......hmmmm.....

I don't know if they "assign" tables or not, but you're welcome to join us! Hopefully we'll still be a happy couple after a couple of thousand miles in the MINI (it's mine, and hubby's not fond of it), but if not, you can sit between us...

We only assign seating for our Vendors and Sponsors

otherwise, it is festival seating and you save for a friend. Note we have cocktail hour prior to dinner so we all tend to go in at once...

I keep reading references to driving up Mt. Evans in the buff. Is this a Colorado rite of passage? You know, like eating the worm?

Thanks!

Last time I went up Mt Evans at midnight, but I was NOT nekkid, I was dressed very warmly, and I still froze!

I'm from Wisconsin and it rivaled a sub zero night with the way the wind was blowing up there!

Between 14,000 ft and heaven there is little resistance - so the wind blows.
Dress warm; gloves, warm coat and a hat. Then get in line behind me with the top down - wheeee!

And at 14,000+ ft, other things that are closer: stars, Int'l Space Station, moon, etc. Us R53'ers have been doing "light shows" (lights on, bonnet up) since day 0, trying to signal ET, but nothing, so far. We'll try again.

Very Worth While!

I was at MITM 2 in '07 alone, (spouse does not like MINIs). Met great people on the drives, had dinner with various people at the dinners. Singles (driving alone, not the other kind) fit in very well.

At that one, you could purchase extra drawing tickets to up your chances, I scored a set of SS brake lines.

Don't let coming alone deter you, as others said the food isn't gourmet but the ambiance and the company are superb.
