Was looking at this cooper but curious if any members know it. Curious as to why it has a single front wiper vs a regular 2 and I see the alta sticker and the side skirts. Implying it was modified or still is.
Figured I'd see if anyone knows it. Or knew the car.

Don't know the car...

...but that's the first time I've seen the mono-wiper done on an R53,
I actually think it looks pretty cool.

It seemed like a big trend back in the 90's in VW circles...

...and I think it was inspired by the DTM racing look:

Do a general online search for "single wiper mod" though and many different cars pop up and quite a few people like to do it.

I like it also actually, I figured it was a single because of that intake duct that has been installed on the top area of the dash above the hood which I'm guessing feeds cold air directly into the filter.
From the searches I've done only 2 threads came up, one on minitorque and the other on another mini site and people say it's not possible based on the range of the wiper motor. However they're older threads so that doesnt exactly contain recent knowledge.

There is some debate about the effect of those scoops and most folks agree that they're more of an aesthetic thing as opposed to functional.

Do an online search for "orciari scoop" and you'll see alotta of 'em.

I'll take a look, it wouldn't be hard to 3d print a housing that would direct the air to the filter like a ram air but I'd have to see the underside first. The fact its painted matte black is the thing that weird me out. Is it plasti? Did it have an accident and they didnt want to repaint or did it start fading? Theres a lot of weirdness with that aspect.

I don't have the technical expertise to determine if those cowl scoops actually work or not...

...but I myself prefer the "Martijn mod" and have seriously considered doing it to my car!

His inspiration was the outlaw Porsche style and vintage motorsport, which is a vibe right up my alley!
