Lightbulb 2004 MCS w/250hp for track or street use

Year: 2004
Make: MINI
Model: Hardtop
Price: $16900
Mileage: 69000
Color: blue
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): NorCal

For sale: 2004 Mini Cooper S w/250hp: ideal for the racetrack, yet still legal for the street. Indi Blue with white stripes; Blue gray leather interior. Manual transmission.

$16900 obo.

This R53's engine, suspension, and Big Brake Kit make it a real joy at the track, at it handles like a gokart and drives like a race car. It stops on a dime, effortlessly takes every corner, and has plenty of power, with 250bhp at the crankshaft, and over 210whp at the wheels, while weighing less than 2600lbs.

This car was built for me by Jacques Anders at Bay Bridge Motors in Oakland (see him on YouTube showing his twin-engine Mini at Jay Leno's Garage), with the engine fine-tuned by Jan at Revolution MotorWorks (RMW), so it has a great tune. It's still street legal, and passes smog. Have to sell as I'm switching to an open-wheel Lotus7, and I only have space for one toy.

Engine: Ported head, high-flow header, Schrick cam, Alta cold air intake, Alta 15% supercharger pulley, new block with 64K miles on it, and Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system. Jan/RMW tune.

Suspension: Bilstein PSS-9 coilovers, SPC adjustable camber plates, H-sport adjustable rear control arms, Poly front a-arm bushings, BMP aluminium strut tower brace, H-sport rear sway-bar

Brakes: StopTech ST-4 BBK, 4-caliper big brake kit with Hawk HP+ pads. Stainless steel brake lines front & rear.

Wheels: Two sets of 17" lightweight wheels/tires, Team Dynamics with Dunlop Starspec tires, and white Racelines with Potenza RE760s, spacers and wheel studs.

Other: Autometer mechanical boost and oil pressure gauge integrated w/speedo pod mount, M7 Ram hood scoop, M7 carbon-fiber radiator diverter plate, lightweight Odyssey battery.

Extras: Two Schroth ASM 4-point MINI racing harnesses, new OEM R53 custom car cover, new copy of the full Bentley R53 manual.

Is it me or is that intercooler ridiculously huge? Looks even bigger than the GP.

GLWS - always good to see R53's rocking!

jamez: It's pretty huge, gets a lot of air via the ram scoop, and also has water cooling that drinks from the rear-wiper-reservoir. Heat soak hasn't been a problem.
