Ian, when were Driver cars worth a couple grand? I'm fairly new to the stateside mini market. I only started looking for my first mini back in early 2003. Even then to get a decent runner you had to put down 5K. My very first mini cost me $3800 and ran but there was loads of things wrong with it. Way more than this one I am trying to sell.

I've heard that Minis were generally cheaper before the new MINI came out and generated a new interest in the classics. Is that true?

I wish the Air Force would send me to the UK, I would be stocking up!!

Ok... maybe it was never quite that good... but it seems that just a few years ago you could pick up a nice car that didn't need anything for $6000 (remembering a few that I saw on West PA's site), but now the same car is $10K or more... and I've heard decent cars in the UK are getting hard to find and commanding high prices... made even worse by the weak dollar.

So... I suppose my advice to anyone out there: if you want a decent drivable Mini, Gene's is probably a good deal... just more than I'm personally willing to spend...

(rest in PM to come later as I've already hi-jacked this thread enough...)

SOLD!

Hi guys. The mini was sold today. It is going to good home. The new owner is already planning on fixing a whole bunch of things I hadn't had time for yet.

Thanks for all the info, insight, and bumps on this thread.

Now, that this Mini is gone ( ) I can focus on my project mini! Once I get pictures I'll post them on the classic section.

Oh man! This is the first time I've looked at the thread and I'm only 30 min away in Greenville- dang it!

Come join us at a Tar Heel Mini club get together sometime-the next one is on 12/15- there's a guy at SJ that owns a blue/silver MCS that often comes to the events.

Yes he does and the fact that he's driven it on the Nurburgring makes us all jealous- the integration of his stripes, interior, colors is very nice.
