Extended warranty?

Has anyone purchased the extended warranty after you've owned your MINI? I'm just curious if it's worth it. What does it cover? What does it cost? Basic info like that.

Very Interesting

Read. I was thinking of uping my manufacture warrenty another year through the littleton dealer.. as it's only 499 or so I think.. and IMO worth that. The long term warrenty is up in the air, as noted in the article some people use it.. some people dont. It might be worth it for you, in many diffrent ways. Peace of mind is a common cited example.

Was an interesting read. I'm just curious if that warranty covers service and would it pay for itself or not? I know the people selling the warranty have to make a buck but how much are service appointments? I don't know. I still have a year and a half to make up my mind.

According to the SA i spoke with a month ago at MOP in peabody, the extended warranty that Mini offers is a 1 year and 12,000 mile extension of their full service warranty. That covers wear items like brakes and wipers and oil changes up to 4yrs or 48,000 miles. She made a good point that the $499 cost outweighed the $2000 cost of a front and rear brake job.

It depends on where your car stands. i drive mine hard and will probably need brakes in the next 12 months so the warranty will be worth the expenditure.

BUT like all insurances... if you don't use it or, god forbid, total your car it was a poor expenditure.
