I am pleased to announce the founding of MINI5280: The Motoring Society of the Rocky Mountain Region. This will be a club for new MINI owner/enthusiasts, and also welcome those who love all things Mini.

The MINI5280 Officers are:

President: Dave Bunting
Secretary: Kelsey Baker
Treasurer: Randy Webb
Technology: Mark Ferguson

Also serving on the MINI5280 board:
Tom Braum, Teresa Aguilar, and Anthony Figueiredo

There is considerable work ahead to ensure we have a stable and well organized club. Initially, these details will be worked behind the scenes. The founding of a MINI club in Colorado is something a lot of us have been wanting. I would ask for your patience as we take the time to get the club on a solid foundation. Once that happens, MINI5280 will welcome MINI enthusiasts to become charter members.

In the next year, look for MINI5280 members to be active in the following:

- standing monthly business meeting
- group drives
- drive and dines
- modification install days
- the BMW CCA autocross series
- MINICCA

One of the things I'm personally looking forward to is doing joint events with MINI5280 and Minis of the Rockies. It's always been fun for me to see the classic Minis and the new MINIs together. ...maybe a Mini MINI car show?

We'll keep you posted as things progress. I'm looking forward to the time we can announce we have things in place to start taking on new members. That said, I thought it was important for you to hear about the founding.

Dave

12/9 MINI5280 Update

We will be discussing MINI5280 at both the MINI-Motorsport Party and the
Alpine Rally Tribute. MINI5280 will have membership applications
available and accepting dues ($25) that will cover members for the tail
end of this year and all of 2003. Soon after the membership applications
and dues are received, membership cards and stickers will be printed and
sent out. Also, MINI5280.org should go live this week and there will be a
newsletter available for members to download (we'll send out an e-mail
when the site is up).

For those of you who join the club, be sure to thank the following people
for the efforts in getting MINI5280 to this point: Kelsey Baker, Randy
Webb, Mark Ferguson, Kelly Peterson, Teresa Aguilar, Tom Braum, and
Anthony Figueirdeo

Interesting fact my brother told me the other day.

Denver has the same annual average temperature as San Diego. Just more extremes. . .

Hmm, may be true. I lived in San Diego (Carlsbad) for a few years. I do know that denver on average has more sunny days than Southern California. I lived there most of my life and my sister has been living here in denver for the last 8. She told me that it is true. Now that i am here I'll wait and see.

MINI5280, the Motoring Society of the Rocky Mountain Region, is now ready to take membership!

MINI5280.org went live around 1:30 AM this morning, thanks to the hard work of Mark Ferguson (MINI Cooper Online founder and now MINI5280 technology guru).

At MINI5280.org: Download the inaugural MINI5280 newsletter! Look for articles on some past Denver MINI events written by Randy Webb (MINI5280 Treasurer), the membership application, and a calender of upcoming events. Kelsey Baker (MINI5280 secretary) deserves some kudos for the layout.

Join MINI5280! There are two ways to join.

1) Submit your membership application online Then mail your $25 check (payable to MINI5280) to:

Randy Webb
Treasurer MINI5280
3962 East Garnet Court
Highlands Ranch, CO 80126

2) Print the newsletter Then fill out the membership application and mail
your check to the above address.

Your membership fee of $25 goes toward the costs associated with MINI road
rallys, get togethers, and special events. It will also garner you two
nice MINI5280.org stickers and a MINI5280 membership card.

In closing, I'd like to thank everyone who has worked to get MINI5280 to
this point: Randy Webb, Kelsey Baker, Mark Ferguson, Kelly Peterson,
Teresa Aguilar, Tom Braum, and Anthony Figueirdeo.

There are now 4 color combinations for MINI5280 stickers. Members receive two stickers in the color combination of their choosing.
